Rainbow
Elisa (Toffoli) Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
There's a ray of light upon your face now
I can look into your eyes
And I never thought it could be so simple
You can hear the music with no sounds
You can heal my heart without me knowing
I can cry in front of you
When we'll wake up
Some morning rain will wash away our pain
When we'll wake up
Some morning rain will wash away our pain
'Cause it never began for us
It'll never end for us
'Cause it never began for us
It'll never end for us
You're not my enemy anymore
There's a ray of light upon your face now
It'll be all new again
There is something else
Just 'round the corner
So when we'll wake up
Some morning rain will wash away our pain
When we'll wake up
Some morning rain will wash away our pain
'Cause it never began for us
It'll never end for us
No it never began for us
It'll never end for us
I was looking for a place to stay
Are you looking for a place to stay?
No it never began for us
It'll never end for us
No it never began for us
It'll never end for us
No it never began for us
And it'll never end for us
The song "Rainbow" by Elisa Toffoli is a powerful and reflective piece about the complexities of relationships that have been strained but still hold potential for healing and renewal. The opening verse describes a shift in perception of the other person, as they are no longer seen as an enemy but as someone with a "ray of light" on their face. The singer is able to confront their own vulnerability and express their emotions because they trust that the other person will not judge or shame them. The imagery of rain washing away their pain suggests the potential for relief and a new beginning, though it is acknowledged that their connection has always existed and always will.
The chorus repeats the idea that "it never began for us" and "it'll never end for us", suggesting a timeless quality to their relationship that transcends specific events or circumstances. This could be interpreted as a statement about the universality of human connection and the human experience, or as an acknowledgement of the deep roots of their own connection. The ending lines, "I was looking for a place to stay / Are you looking for a place to stay?" could be interpreted in many ways - as a plea for mutual understanding and support, as a reflection on the transience of human connections, or as a simple question searching for an answer.
Overall, "Rainbow" is a tender and intimate song that explores the complexities of relationships, vulnerability, and the search for healing and renewal.
