All I Ask of You
Elisabeth Andreassen Lyrics

No more talk of darkness;
Forget these wide-eyed fears.
I'm here,
Nothing can harm you -
My words will warm and and calm you.
Let me be your freedom,
I'm here,
With you, beside you,
To guard you and to guide you.
Elisabeth:
Say you love me
Every waking moment,
Turn my head with talk of summertime.
Say you love me
Every now and always,
Promise me that all you say is true-
That's all I ask of you.
Carl-Robert:
Let me be your shelter,
Let me be your light.
You're safe:
No-one will find you -
Your fears are far behind you.
Elisabeth:
All I want is freedom,
A world with no more night,
And you, always beside me,
To hold me and to hide me.
Carl-Robert:
Then say you'll share with me
One love, one lifetime,
Let me lead you from your solitide.
Say you need me with you here, beside you,
Anywhere you go,
Let me go too
- Christine,
That's all I ask of you.
Elisabeth:
Say you share with me one love,
One lifetime,
Say the word and I will follow you.
Both:
Share each day with me,
Each night, each morning.
Elisabeth:
Say you love me.
Carl-Robert:
You know I do.
Both:
Love me -
That's all I ask of you.
Oh, oh...
Anywhere you go let me go too.
Love me -
That's all I ask of you.
The song "All I Ask of You" from the musical "The Phantom of the Opera" tells the story of two lovers, Carl-Robert and Elisabeth, who are pledging their love and devotion to each other. In the first verse, Carl-Robert reassures Elisabeth that she has nothing to fear and promises to be her protector. He promises to bring light to her life and dry her tears. Elisabeth then requests that he express his love for her every moment and tell her about the good times they will have together. She wants him to always keep his promises and be true to her.
In the second verse, Carl-Robert offers to be a shelter for Elisabeth and promises to keep her safe from harm. She expresses her desire for freedom from darkness and for Carl-Robert to always be at her side. Carl-Robert then asks Elisabeth to vow to share one love and one lifetime with him and to let him lead her out of her solitude. He promises to remain by her side and support her always. The song ends with both of them professing their love for each other and pledging to be together always.
