She received much critical acclaim for her 2005 release, Paradise Hotel, which contains songs that strike a chord with listeners in light of recent events. "Requiem" honors Hurricane Katrina and tsunami victims with hopeful pleas to the Virgin Mary, while "Man of God" is a bitter, unapologetic denouncement of President George W. Bush and his administration.
"The actions of this regime do not follow the teachings of Christ, what I call real Christianity," Gilkyson said in August 2005. "I just don't appreciate the religious right acting like I don't love God and my country just because I'm not in their corner. I'm mad and I want other people to be mad about this too."
In 2008, her album Beautiful World came out, again on Red House Records. The songs vary from pop to folk and points in-between, with songs ranging from intimate ballads to rallying cries against the imperialist machine. She recently collaborated on a new album entitled Red Horse with two of her Red House Records label-mates John Gorka and Lucy Kaplansky.
In 2011, she came out with Roses at the End of Time. Recorded at her home with the help of her son and co-producer Cisco Ryder, Gilkyson took a longer time in the studio and came out with a more eclectic and personal album. She continues to tour about 150 dates per year in the United States and overseas.

No Tomorrow
Eliza Gilkyson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Turn off the hardware, get it out of my sight
Turn your face to me and hold me tonight
Turn off the harsh glare of the flat screen blue light
Turn off the hardware, get it out of my sight
Turn your face to me and hold me tonight
Like there's no tomorrow
No tomorrow
Forget the dishes, leave'em stacked
in the sink
Tonight my great wish is that I won't have to think
Just let your sweet kisses drive me over the brink
Like there's no tomorrow
No tomorrow
Tell me all you're feeling, don't hold anything back
Find the holes in the ceiling, we can slip through the cracks
And I'll hold on to you when the world fades to black
Like there's no tomorrow
No tomorrow
Eliza Gilkyson's song "No Tomorrowā€¯ is a touching and intimate love song that illustrates the importance of making the most of every moment in life. The opening lyrics use technology as a metaphor for the distractions and noise that often consume our lives. The harsh glare of the flat screen blue light is emblematic of an over-stimulated and over-connected world that is difficult to escape. In a way, the song is a call to tune out the noise and focus on what truly matters in our lives. The repetition of the phrase "Turn off the hardware, get it out of my sight" emphasizes this point and encourages listeners to disconnect and focus on the present moment.
The chorus of the song, "Like there's no tomorrow," is a powerful reminder to live in the moment and make the most of every opportunity. The lyrics suggest a sense of urgency and emphasize the importance of being fully present in our relationships, even when there are distractions and difficulties. The lines "Forget the dishes, leave 'em stacked in the sink / Tonight my great wish is that I won't have to think" are especially poignant as they reflect the desire to let go of the mundane tasks and just focus on the present moment and each other.
The lyrics of "No Tomorrow" are profoundly moving and beautifully crafted. They urge us to seize the day and cherish the moments we have with the people we love. The song serves as a reminder that life is short, and we should make the most of every precious moment.
