Underwater
Elizabeth Fraser Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The opening of a window
Onto the rapture
Find the world
Shining in me
My senses consciously falling
Make love
By touching infinity
Movement
Take a little conscious lesson
Today I matter
We're just waking up

Movement
Take a little conscious lesson

Today I matter
We're just waking up

Overall Meaning

These lyrics in Elizabeth Fraser's song "Underwater" suggest a transformative experience where the singer feels more connected with the world around them. The opening of a window onto "rapture" could be interpreted as a moment of clarity or realization that allows the singer to see the beauty in the world around them. The line "find the world shining in me" could refer to a newfound understanding that they are connected to the larger universe, and they are able to see the beauty in both themselves and their surroundings.

The following lines describe a feeling of physically falling or losing control, as the singer's senses are "consciously falling." This image could suggest a surrender to the experience of being alive and present in the moment. The final lines, "make love by touching infinity," seem to suggest an almost spiritual connection to the world and other people, as well as a sense of limitless possibilities.

Taken together, these lyrics suggest a journey of self-discovery and a sense of awakening to the world around them. The repeated chorus of "movement, take a little conscious lesson, today I matter, we're just waking up" reinforces the idea that even small actions can have significance and that everyone has the potential to grow and change.

At last, I cannot recall how many times I searched the web, always full of hope to find a new release with that godly (moving) voice. I've learned I've been doing that for 25 years, at some time we even listened to CT Xmas songs (bbrrruaah). Now, and we are a year late, we haven't felt younger for quite a while.
