I wanted the house, pool and the dog
I desired the materialistic things like a big house, a swimming pool, and a pet dog in my life.

Brown eyed babies and all
I also longed to have brown-eyed babies in my family.

He cut the grass, shoveled the snow
My partner, in order to please me, did all the household chores like mowing the lawn and removing snow from the walkways.

I will make the garden grow
In response to his gesture, I promised to make our garden flourish and fill it with a variety of plants.

With a two car garage
I also wished for a spacious garage that could accommodate two cars in it.

To give our home an aesthetic look, I wanted to add colorful windmills in our yard.

And a brown mat under the door saying “Welcome Home”
To make our entry warm and cozy, I planned to place a brown-colored doormat outside our door that would greet our guests with the message 'Welcome Home.'

Eventually, I realized that what I actually desired deep down was..

a partner who would be a good human being and compassionate.

someone who would love me and be my best friend at the same time.

Someone to forgive me when I’m so wrong
a person who would forgive me even at times when I am wrong.

And remind me what welcome home is applied to

This understanding made me realize that in this world, everything finally comes down to the emotion of love.

It also helped me realize that love can be found in anything or anyone around us.

Just like love can be found in anything, we can also feel at home anywhere if we have a loving partner to be with us.

Now that I am in love with someone who possesses all these qualities, I sometimes get blinded by the thought of them.
