See You Later
Elliott Smith Lyrics

You got a choke chain
Made out of night train
To keep your memory down
In quicksand from the main man
To gel everything out
Always out on a joyride
Lay it out from insides
Always at a dead stall
From sticking pins into miniature men
Who can't feel it at all

See you later
See you later
If I see you at all
See you later

See you later
See you later
If I see you at all
See you later

Walk through thick mud
Looking for new blood
Thinking I heard your name
Cruel imagination is still giving me pain
Just to find you with the
Masterminder
Of one of your little affairs
Saying how he loves you now
Let me show you how much I care

See you later
See you later
If I see you at all

See you later
See you later
If I see you at all

See you later
See you later
If I see you at all
See you later

@Patrick O'Brien this particular version of the song was actually released in 1998 on the Air Check compilation and definitely has been circulating online since

Hunter Slade

People who haven't heard of him yet

Kim Devos

@Patrick O'Brien He's probably talking about the song rather than this video or recording specifically... no worries.

It's important to remember these songs: to remember that this is a double album of outtakes that didn't even make it onto the two albums pressed during their composition. It's important because so many of them are understated masterpieces, like Smith's work as a whole.

If you have in yourself a creative spark, whatever your medium, remember this: It's not important to remember these songs so as to become discouraged; but rather, it's important to remember these things songs to take them in as fuel with which the singular spark in you and only you might shine, for its time, in this place. For any who needs to see or hear or know what you have to say.

Thanks heath

A lot of New Moon songs are indeed as you say. This particular one is quite old, written for his pre-solo career band Heatmiser for their album Mic City Sons. The band’s version is great, check it out.
