Elliott Smith Lyrics

Won't you let me walk you home from school?
Won't you let me meet you at the pool?
Maybe Friday I can
Get tickets for the dance
And I'll take you
Oh, oh, oh

Won't you tell your dad to get off my back?
Tell him what we said about "Paint It Black"
Rock and roll is here to stay
Come inside now, it's ok
And I'll shake you
Oh, oh, oh

Won't you tell me what you're thinking of?
Would you be an outlaw for my love?
If it's so then let me know
If it's no then I can go
And I won't make you
Oh, oh, oh

@Jack Kitchen I don’t think there’s an easy conclusion to make. Obviously the police agree because she was never prosecuted. There are suspicious aspects to the case, but I’m not willing to claim someone is a murderer when the evidence isn’t even close to concrete.

I read the autopsy. If it would have been impossible for him to stab himself again, it would have been ruled a homicide. And while the autopsy points to several suspicious facts, it’s ultimately inconclusive.

She could have just wiped off the prints too, right? Although that could be suspicious since you’d expect to see prints on a kitchen knife. Pulling a knife out of someone’s chest seems like an insane thing to do, but it’s certainly within the realm of possible courses of actions a panicked loved one might take.

I read the lawsuit, and will summarize it here. She claimed that they lived together and agreed to pool their earnings, that Elliott promised to take care of her, that they essentially presented themselves as husband and wife, that she had forgone any career pursuits and instead acted as homekeeper, manager, and agent for Elliott and they had agreed she would get 15% of all profits from his work.

All in all, she claimed right to over $1 Million, but got nothing because of technicality. Because she claimed to have acted as his agent without having a license (illegal), and because her legal and illegal claims were seen as non-severable, she wasn’t given anything.

I think going after the profits is a scummy move. They dated for a year, there is no way her work was worth $1M. Elliott was already well-established. I’m not sure if there was any evidence that she did any work for him.

That said, this kind of thing is widespread in the US. People are always getting into lawsuits about who is entitled to money after an untimely death occurs. I don’t think that’s evidence she’s a murderer. And if the plan was to murder him and get money, it was clearly a poorly thought out plan.

Elliott has been my inspiration for the last 10 years. I heard his music when I was done with life. I wanted nothing more than to just leave... I got close, but found his amazing voice, lyrics and guitar.

Thank you for saving me, Elliott. RIP.

Welcome 13 reasons why fans. For such a sad scene, I was so glad to hear Elliott's beautiful cover on there.
