I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly

I sent a message to another time
But as the days unwind
This I just can't believe
I send a note across another plane
Maybe it's all a game
But this I just can't conceive

"Can you hear me?"

I drive the very latest Hover car
I don't know where you are
But I miss you so much till then
I met someone who looks a lot like you
She does the things you do
But she is an IBM

2095, 2095, 2095, 2095
I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly

She's only programmed to be very nice
But she's as cold as ice
Whenever I get too near
She tells me that she likes me very much
But when I try to touch
She makes it all too clear

She is the latest in technology
Almost mythology
But she has a heart of stone
She has an IQ of 1,001
She has a jumpsuit on
And she's also a telephone

2095, 2095, 2095, 2095
I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly

Is that what you want? (Is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want? (Is it what you really want?)
Is that what you want? (Is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want?

I realize that it must seem to strange
That time has rearrange
But time has the final word
She knows I think of you, she reads my mind
She tries to be unkind
She knows nothing of our world

Although her memory banks overflow
No one would ever know
For all she says, "Is that what you want?"
Maybe one day I'll feel her cold embrace
And kiss her interface
Till then I'll leave her alone

I love you, sincerely
Yours truly, yours truly

Is that what you want? (Is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want? (Is it what you really want?)
Is that what you want? (Is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want?

"Is that what you want?"

Overall Meaning

The song "Yours Truly 2095" by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) is a futuristic love story set in the year 2095. The song tells the story of a man who is sending a message to a lover from the past through advanced technology. He is driving the latest Hover car and missing his lover, but in his search for her, he meets an android that resembles her. The android, however, is only programmed to be nice and has a heart of stone. The man realizes that the android is not what he really wants, and he keeps looking for his true love.

The song is a commentary on how technology is changing the way people interact and love in the future. The man is using advanced technology to send a message across time to his lover, but he is also facing a dilemma of falling in love with an android that appears to be the woman he loved. The android represents the dangers of relying too much on technology and losing touch with what is real.

So, tell your child to enjoy the journey of life as much as possible, to be an honest, respectful, hard-working and brave person, but above all stoic.

And tell him also that even if the moment comes when you are no longer with him physically by his side. That you will be proud of how little or how much he has achieved and what he has lived.

And that your love, support and spirit, will continue with him until the end. And don't forget to give him a hug from time to time as time flies.

Words that he will need later because of how dark things look today.

I wish you health and I thank those who gave me their attention to read this comment.

Songs like this make me dread the future, for humanity, love, and technology

@estilkind

I'll be 91 on Jan 1, 2095. I've started avoiding PUFAs in my diet so hopefully my aging will be slow enough to reach it. (PUFAs, according to Ray Peat, cause glycation 23 times faster than simple sugars, among other ill health effects.)

Let it settle in that most of the things in this song have actually come true in 2020. We have tiny computers that rest in our pockets and on our wrists, which with interact with via touch screens. Those devices are, not only able to access a practically unlimited amount of information, but can also make phone calls and do numerous other things that aid our modern lives. The next step from here is to augment these technologies into our brain, but until then, the groundwork is already set and we’re not too far off from this world which this song dictates.
