In 2007, Elsiane launched its first album, Hybrid, which was very well received by the public and the media. The aerial and bewitching opus led the band to tour with Delerium and Beast, as well as to play the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, Osheaga and M for Montreal. These performances were a real consecration for Elsiane, which attracted many faithful fans with its stupefying shows, combining stunning visual and audio elements for an evocative, hypnotizing experience. After the buzz surrounding Hybrid, Elsiane has withdrawn to write new songs and to collaborate with Olivier Dufour for the Quebec City 400th anniversary main event soundtrack. The band also worked with Booka Shade, Delerium and performed for the Cirque du Soleil show, Le Royaume de Tôle.
Five years after releasing Hybrid, the duo finally presents its second opus, Mechanics of Emotion. Less dark than the first record, but preserving the hooking melodies and complex arrangements, this album is a true renaissance for the duo. The band self-produced this 11 track album of organic pop, with the collaboration of sound-engineer Rob Heaney (Patrick Watson, Cirque du Soleil).
Across the Stream
Elsiane Lyrics

I feel enough to tell you something that's very close to me
In the eye of my mind
Feel the reasons that we though
You just feel all
Falling I'm standing across the stream
Fearing saying I
I'm strong enough to find my courage
Falling I'm standing across the stream
Fearing saying I
I'm strong enough to find my courage
To find the way I'm always near its growing in my mind
The lyrics to Elsiane's song "Across the Stream" indicate a sense of inner conflict and hesitation as the singer grapples with the decision to express a difficult truth or feeling. The opening lines "Strong enough to tell you why / I feel enough to tell you something that's very close to me" suggest that the singer has a desire to communicate a deeply personal message to someone, but is unsure whether they possess the strength or bravery to do so. The reference to the "eye of my mind" hints at the idea that the singer is engaged in a mental struggle to overcome their fear and doubt.
As the song progresses, the singer expresses a sense of being caught between two states - "Falling I'm standing across the stream / Fearing saying I". The imagery of being across the stream emphasizes the feeling of separation and distance from the person they are addressing, while also conveying a sense of emotional weight and burden that the singer is carrying. Despite these difficulties, the singer ultimately declares that they are "strong enough to find my courage" and that the need to express themselves is "growing in my mind".
The lyrics of "Across the Stream" seem to reflect the experience of struggling with difficult emotions or truths, and the sense of apprehension and bravery required to confront them. The song is a powerful meditation on the courage required to speak one's truth, even when it is difficult or uncomfortable to do so.
