Little Jeannie
Elton John Kiki Dee Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You got so much love, little Jeannie
And you take it where it strikes
(And) give it to the likes of me
Oh little Jeannie
She got so much love, little Jeannie
So I see you when I can
You make me all a man can be
And I want you to be my acrobat
I want you to be my lover
Oh, there were others who would treat you cruel
And, oh, oh Jeannie
You were always someone's fool
Little Jeannie
You got so much time, little Jeannie
Though you've grown beyond your years
You still retain the fears of youth
Oh little Jeannie
You got so much time, little Jeannie
But you're burning it up so fast
Searching for some lasting truth
And I want you to be my acrobat
I want you to be my lover
Oh there were others who would treat you cruel
But, oh, oh Jeannie
I will always be your fool
And I want you to be my acrobat
I want you to be my lover
Oh, there were others, and I've known quite a few
But, oh, oh Jeannie
I'm still in love with you
Stepped into my life from a bad dream
Making the life that I had seem
Suddenly shiny and new
Oh Jeannie
I'm so in love with you
Stepped into my life from a bad dream
Stepped into my life from a bad dream
The song "Little Jeannie" by Elton John and Kiki Dee is a love song about a woman named Jeannie. The lyrics speak about Jeannie's inner beauty and how much love she has to give. Elton John and Kiki Dee sings, "Oh little Jeannie, You got so much love, little Jeannie, And you take it where it strikes (And) give it to the likes of me". The singer wants to be with Jeannie and wants her to know that he loves her for who she is. He doesn't want her to be someone she's not.
The chorus repeats the singer's desire for Jeannie to be his acrobat and his lover. He recognizes that other people may have treated her poorly in the past, but he promises to treat her right. The second verse describes Jeannie's youth and her speed to grow up. They highlight her search for lasting truth. However, the singer promises to be by her side no matter what. The bridge speaks of Jeannie coming into the singer's life like a dream and making it better.

I love this song so much. Just listening to it mellows me out, particularly after a hectic day. Having a drink while sitting in my favorite chair and turning on this tune does it for me every time.
@CatsCrazyWorld
I simply LOVE this song and wished he'd play it at concerts again. I haven't went to one yet but wish that I could go. I just know by the sets he plays now he doesn't play it anymore...

I am a Jeannie as you can see. Never say never. When I was nine Elton came to St. Louis on his "Captain fantastic tour" and my 17 year old brother wanted to take me. My mom of course said no way! Told her I hated her and he'd be dead by the time I got to see him in concert. (lol) Anyway I've seen him more times than I can count and it was usually to promote an album but I was fortunate enough to be at his performance under the arch 4th of July weekend in like 81,82 and he played all his classics. One of my favorite concerts to this day and it was free!!
