Eluveitie use both traditional Swiss and Celtic instruments alongside electric guitars and drums. Their music is known to be inspired by Gothenburg’s melodic death metal Scene and their lyrics are written in a mix of English and Gaulish. The name of the band comes from a graffito on a vessel from Mantua (ca. 300 BC). The inscription in Etruscan letters reads eluveitie, which has been interpreted as the Etruscan form of the Celtic (h)elvetios (“the Helvetian”), presumably referring to a man of Helvetian descent living in Mantua.
On 14 October 2017, the band announced via social media that they were working on a new album, and were to due to start recording after their Maximum Evocation tour. The band also revealed that they had recorded a single in advance of the tour, at Tommy Vetterli's New Sound Studio, entitled "Rebirth". The single was released on 27 October 2017, along with a music video produced by Wolfgang Wolman and Oliver Sommer. "Rebirth" marked the first non-acoustic record produced by the new line-up. On the band's official Instagram account, it was announced the new album is called Ategnatos. It was released on 5 April 2019. On 2 June 2022, the band released a brand new single "Aidus" along with a music video. On 5 July, the band announced that Michalina Malisz left the band on good terms

The lyrics of Eluveitie's song Brictom are written in Gaulish, the ancient Celtic language spoken in Gaul, which is now modern-day France, Switzerland, Belgium, and parts of Italy, Spain, and Germany. The first verse roughly translates to "Our ancestors have connected / the rivers and the mountains / They've crossed the waves and the mountains / To find the sacred places / There they worshiped the gods / In a way we don't understand / They spoke the language of the spirits / And danced to the rhythm of the world / They were close to the divine."
The second verse refers to the goddess Brictom, who was associated with prosperity, good harvest, and abundance. The lyrics state that "Inside we find Brictom / In the circle of the world." This suggests that the goddess is present in all things and that her power and influence are pervasive. The final lines of the song state "The third day will come / When the gods will meet their fate." This refers to the ancient Celtic belief in a cyclical universe, where everything eventually returns to its beginning and the gods, as well as all things, are eventually reborn.

Never heard of this band before. But, on a recommendation from a friend, I saw them live at the Cleveland Agora and am now a HUGE fan! I was blown away, especially from this song! If you see them live, you see the emotion in the music they make!

Greetings from America!!! This band is BEYOND amazing. Both me and my dad are totally in love with them. We bought tickets for their Louisville show. And yes, there are ppl in KY that enjoy and bathe in the total epicness that is Eluveitie.

Gaulish is very ancient. For writing a song (an album, even) in gaulish, they deserve respect.
Methhead Sturmgeschuetz III
@B b gosh do you think with your knee caps? Gaulish is a extinct language; Eluveitie had to work with scientists to reconstruct the extinct language for writing lyrics for their songs. Also no one cares about your arbitrary definition of language extinction that no one uses but you, especially there is already a well constructed and agreed-upon definition.
Anders Midnatt
This is Gaulish, extinct ca. 1700 years ago.
