Eluveitie use both traditional Swiss and Celtic instruments alongside electric guitars and drums. Their music is known to be inspired by Gothenburg’s melodic death metal Scene and their lyrics are written in a mix of English and Gaulish. The name of the band comes from a graffito on a vessel from Mantua (ca. 300 BC). The inscription in Etruscan letters reads eluveitie, which has been interpreted as the Etruscan form of the Celtic (h)elvetios (“the Helvetian”), presumably referring to a man of Helvetian descent living in Mantua.
On 14 October 2017, the band announced via social media that they were working on a new album, and were to due to start recording after their Maximum Evocation tour. The band also revealed that they had recorded a single in advance of the tour, at Tommy Vetterli's New Sound Studio, entitled "Rebirth". The single was released on 27 October 2017, along with a music video produced by Wolfgang Wolman and Oliver Sommer. "Rebirth" marked the first non-acoustic record produced by the new line-up. On the band's official Instagram account, it was announced the new album is called Ategnatos. It was released on 5 April 2019. On 2 June 2022, the band released a brand new single "Aidus" along with a music video. On 5 July, the band announced that Michalina Malisz left the band on good terms

Epilogue
Eluveitie Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Our songs. We died, and our blood seeped away on the battlefields; but our
Songs survived, together with those of us that returned. And as they too
Will die one day, our songs will live on, and will be sung by our children,
And by our children's children. This is how we will be remembered. This is
Who we were.
Helvetios
The lyrics of Eluveitie's song "Epilogue" offer a poignant reflection on the enduring legacy of the ancient peoples known as the Helvetii. The singer of the song reflects on the many years of suffering and hardship that his people endured, particularly on the battlefields where they fought and often died. Despite the profound loss and tragedy that they experienced, however, the singer argues that the true legacy of the Helvetii is their songs. These melodies and lyrics served as a powerful testament to the courage and resilience of the ancient Celts, and even though many of the people who sang them are long gone, their songs still reverberate through history.
The idea that the Helvetii will be remembered through their songs is a powerful one, evoking themes of cultural heritage, resilience, and the enduring human spirit. The song suggests that even in the face of the most unspeakable tragedies, there are cultural and musical traditions that can offer a sense of hope and continuity. Ultimately, "Epilogue" serves as a powerful reminder that no matter how difficult life may become, the human spirit has a remarkable ability to survive and thrive, and that the legacy of those who came before us can continue to inspire and influence us in countless ways.
