Crespo first gained fame in the mid-90s when he joined Grupo Mania, in Puerto Rico. Eventually he decided to try to go solo in 1998. His debut album, Suavemente was a hit, both in Latin America and in the US. The single "Suavemente" was a huge hit and eventually helped him earn the Best Male Tropical/Salsa Album of the Year from Billboard magazine.
His album went platinum in the Venezuelan and Central American markets and gold in Chile. Released in 1998, Crespo's debut also earned a gold album for sales of over 500,000 copies in the first year after its release in the United States. "Suavemente" set a record for holding the top position on Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks chart for six weeks, longer than any other merengue single. Part of the song's success was its unexpected crossover appeal to English-speaking listeners, particularly in Miami and New York.
His album was mostly merengue influenced, but his follow-up albums would venture from these roots eventually.
Wow Flash! is Elvis Crespo's third solo recording for Sony Music.
Elvis Crespo's latest album, Regresó el Jefe, went on sale on 5 June 2007, with its first single being "La Foto Se Me Borró." He dedicated this album to his niece, Wilmarie Agosto Crespo, who died in a car accident on March 28, 2007.

Llorando por ti,
Yo nunca pensé,
Que llorando por ti
Me pasaría toda la noche. (2)
Como un...
Chica mala,
Yoo lloro por ti
Pero se me va a quitar...
Y yo yo yo,
En la noche peligrosa,
La pasaba sabrosa
Pero ya no estas.
Zombie (8)
Tu me tienes amarrao,
Desprogramao,
Siento que muero
Si no esta a mi lado.
Salgo a la calle
Y te veo en tu aparte
No lo consigo,
No logro sacarte
No logro olvidarte,
No logro borrarte.
Quererte, tenerte
En mi cama acariciarte.
No hay pastillas,
Remedios ni tes
Que me hagan dormir
Y volverte yo a ver.
Zombie (8)
Prendame el bayuye
Que estoy todo develado,
Esa jeva a mi me tiene
Rompiendo noche amarrado. (2)
Zombie (8)
Un embrujo es lo que me espera,
Esa chica si tu no llegas
Hoy se burla la luna llena
Y hoy lo lloro hasta por las penas. (2)
(Zombie)... prendame el bayuye
(Zombie)... que estoy todo develado,
(Zombie)... esa jeva a mi me tiene
(Zombie)... rompiendo noche amarrado. (2)
The song "Zombie" by Elvis Crespo is a rhythmic Latin-infused track with memorable lyrics about the singer's obsession with a woman who has completely consumed him. The song begins with the singer crying over his obsession, as he never thought he would spend the entire night crying for her. He then compares himself to a zombie, perhaps alluding to the way he feels trapped and consumed by his obsession. The next verse is a plea to the woman herself, expressing that he cries for her but he knows he needs to let her go. He recalls how he used to enjoy dangerous nights out, but now he can't because she's not there. He feels like he's tied to her and can't escape. He sees her everywhere, but can't seem to forget her. He sings about how he can't sleep at night without seeing her again. The last verse alludes to the idea that the woman he's so obsessed with has put a spell on him, breaking him down and suppressing his former wild ways.
Overall, "Zombie" is a powerful representation of obsession and how it can take over a person's life. From the lyrics, we can see how deeply the singer is consumed by his love interest and how he can't seem to shake the feeling. The use of the word "zombie" and the repetition of the word throughout the song adds to the eerie and haunting tone of the piece. The song is powerful and emotional, with a strong beat and memorable tune that will stay with listeners long after they've heard it.
