Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, with his family when he was 13 years old. His music career began there in 1954, recording at Sun Records with producer Sam Phillips, who wanted to bring the sound of African American music to a wider audience. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, Presley was a pioneer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. In 1955, drummer D. J. Fontana joined to complete the lineup of Presley's classic quartet and RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who would manage the singer for more than two decades. Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", was released in January 1956 and became a number one hit in the United States. With a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records, he became the leading figure of the newly popular sound of rock and roll. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines during a transformative era in race relations, made him enormously popular—and controversial.
In November 1956, Presley made his film debut in Love Me Tender. Drafted into military service in 1958, Presley relaunched his recording career two years later with some of his most commercially successful work. He held few concerts however, and guided by Parker, proceeded to devote much of the 1960s to making Hollywood movies and soundtrack albums, most of them critically derided. In 1968, following a seven-year break from live performances, he returned to the stage in the acclaimed television comeback special Elvis, which led to an extended Las Vegas concert residency and a string of highly profitable tours. In 1973, Presley gave the first concert by a solo artist to be broadcast around the world, Aloha from Hawaii. Years of prescription drug abuse severely compromised his health, and he died suddenly in 1977 at his Graceland estate, just 42 years of age.
Presley is one of the most celebrated and influential musicians of the 20th century. Commercially successful in many genres, including pop, country, blues, and gospel, he is the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music. He won three competitive Grammys, received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36, and has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame.
Peace in the Valley
Elvis Presley Lyrics

But I must go alone
Till the Lord comes and calls
Calls me away, oh yes
Well the morning's so bright
And the lamp is alight
And the night, night is as black
As the sea, oh yes
There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me
Well the bear will be gentle
And the wolves will be tame
And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes
And the beasts from the wild
Shall be lit by a child
And I'll be changed
Changed from this creature that I am, oh yes
There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me
Elvis Presley's song, Peace in the Valley, is a powerful gospel song that speaks of finding peace and rest in the Lord. The opening verse sets a somber tone as the singer admits he is tired and must go alone until the Lord calls him away. The contrast between the bright morning light and the dark night imagery shows the depth of the singer's weariness, but he finds hope in the promise of peace in the valley.
The chorus acts as a refrain, promising that there will be peace in the valley someday. The singer prays to the Lord for this peace, which is described as a state where there is no sadness, sorrow, or trouble. This is a vision of a heavenly afterlife, where the singer hopes to find rest and comfort in the Lord's presence.
The second verse of the song paints a picture of a transformed world where even the wild animals will be gentle and tame. The lion will lie down with the lamb, and a child will be able to lead the beasts without fear. The singer knows that he too will be changed, transformed from the creature he currently is into something new and peaceful.
Overall, the song Peace in the Valley is a message of hope and comfort for those seeking rest and peace in the Lord. The lyrics are rich with biblical imagery that speaks to deep spiritual truths about the nature of God and the Christian journey.

Oh well, I'm tired and so weary
I am exhausted and feeling drained
But I must go alone
Though it pains me, I must journey on by myself
Till the Lord comes and calls
I will continue until God summons my presence
Calls me away, oh yes
When He beckons, I will follow
Well the morning's so bright
The new day is filled with light and hope
And the lamp is alight
Guidance is provided along the way
And the night, night is as black
Though the darkness may seem overwhelming
As the sea, oh yes
There is always a calmness to be found
There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
A time will come when I shall find serenity
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
I humbly request God's assistance and mercy
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
There shall be no tears or grief
No trouble, trouble I see
All difficulties shall cease to exist
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me
Finally, my soul shall find tranquility
Well the bear will be gentle
Even fierce animals shall display kindness
And the wolves will be tame
'Wild' creatures shall be tamed and their ferocity quelled
And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes
Even the strongest and weakest shall live in harmony
And the beasts from the wild
All untamed creatures
Shall be lit by a child
Even the most savage shall be transformed by the purity of innocence
And I'll be changed
I too shall be transformed
Changed from this creature that I am, oh yes
No longer burdened by my earthly form
