12 Love Letters
Elvis Presley Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Love letters straight from your heart
Keep us so near while apart
I'm not alone in the night
When I can have all the love you write

I memorize every line
And I kiss the name that you sign
And, darling, then I read again right from the start
Love letters straight from your heart

I memorize every line
And I kiss the name that you sign

And, darlin', then I read again right from the start
Love letters straight from your heart

To the extent that any Elvis recording was somehow ''overlooked'', this is one of them. It is exquisite and a vocal masterpiece.

My favorite Elvis song ever. That tiny little hesitation on the first time he sings, "I memorize...every line," tears me to pieces every time. Such a beautiful voice. And today is "the anniversary"--46 years gone. I hope he's found peace in the valley.

@pressycabrera8309

This was the most underrated song Elvis ever sung. His vocals are just off the charts.

I agree. Away at boarding school my best friend at 'bed time lights out " was my transistor radio...with this and Wild in The Country as my all time favourites

How a man with no vocal training can sing like this is mind blowing. Many renditions but only one Elvis.
