America The Beautiful
Elvis Presley Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

O beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above thy fruited plain

America, America
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea

For beautiful, for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crowned thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crowned thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

America!

Overall Meaning

The famous lyrics of Elvis Presley's song "America The Beautiful" celebrate the beauty and greatness of the United States of America. The song starts by praising the natural beauty of the country, with "spacious skies," "amber waves of grain," and "purple mountain majesties" painting a picture of a land that is both bountiful and majestic. The lyrics evoke a sense of pride and awe for the land, as the singer imagines the fruited plain and the mountains that give the country its character.

The second verse of the song shifts its focus to the grace of God, and his blessings on the country. The singer asks for God's favor and for him to show his grace upon America, and in return, promises the strengthening of the country's brotherhood, seen from coast to coast. In this sense, the song becomes not just a celebration of America's natural wonders but also an appeal to maintain the principles and values that have made the country great.

Overall, "America The Beautiful" reflects the deep love and respect held by many Americans for their country's physical beauty and spirit of unity. It is a proud and patriotic song that speaks to the ideals of the American dream and the enduring spirit of the nation.

Elvis was one of the finest, most patriotic Americans. He achieved the American dream, raised in poverty and worked hard with the talents he was given by his Creator. He did not dodge a draft or protest military service but served in the capacity they asked him to.

@viperguyz

He was for the peoples and a true character. He would have marched with BLM ✊🏿 and kneeled for the national anthem if he was alive today.

@colton2680

@@viperguyz he probably would have. I wish he was still alive today.

@SouthDakotaFacts

I think you can still be patriotic and protest and avoid the draft, especially in a situation as unjust as the Vietnam War.

@mistersquare7327

He ended up being a ruined drug addict and died at the age of 42. If THIS is the American dream, f....k it.
