Hands off of her, she belongs to me
Mojo working don't belong to you
Well, she's mine all mine no matter what you do
Play it boys, play it boys

I got my mojo working but it just don't work on you
I got my mojo working but it just don't work on you
But you're mine all mine no matter what you do

Let me tell you now
She's long lean and lanky, sweet as she can be
Hands off of her, she belongs to me
Hands off of her' don't belong to you
Well she's mine all mine no matter what you do

I got my mojo working but it just don't work on you
I got my mojo working but it just don't work on you
Well you're mine all mine no matter what you do
Play it Jerry, play it ........

No matter what you do, play it son
Well she's long lean and lanky, sweet as she can be
Hands off of her unless you want to deal with me
I got my mojo working but it just don't work on you
Well you're mine all mine no matter what you do
Yeah!

I got my mojo workin' I got my mojo workin'
I got my mojo working but it just don't work on you
Well, you're mine all mine no matter what you do
She's long lean and lanky, sweet as she can be
Hands off of her, she belongs to me
Hands off of her' don't belong to you
Well you're mine all mine no matter what you do
One more time!

Yeah!
I got my mojo working but it just don't work on you
I got my mojo working but it just don't work on you
Well, you're mine all mine no matter what you do

Listen to me now
I said you're long lean and lanky cute as you can be
Hands off of her unless you want deal with me
Get your hands off of her, she don't belong to you
Well, you're mine all mine no matter what you do
Yeah, I got my mojo workin' I got my mojo workin'

I got my mojo workin' I got my mojo workin'
I got my mojo working but it just don't work on you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Got My Mojo Working" by Elvis Presley tell a story of a man who is in love with a woman and asserts his ownership over her to any other man who is interested in her. The phrase "got my mojo working" refers to a traditional African-American folk belief in the power of mojo, which is a magic charm or amulet that is believed to bring good luck or protect against evil. The man is essentially saying that he has the power of mojo and that it is working for him, but it does not work on the woman whom he loves. The song consists of two verses that contain similar lyrics, with the only variation being in the guitar riffs.

The repetition of the lyrics, "Hands off of her, she belongs to me" and "Well, she's mine all mine no matter what you do" reinforces the idea of ownership and control, which was a common theme in blues music in the early 20th century. The reference to the woman as "long lean and lanky, sweet as she can be" further emphasizes her physical attributes, highlighting the idea that women were often objectified and valued for their looks rather than their personalities or talents.

The song was originally written and recorded by blues musician Muddy Waters in 1956 and has since become a blues standard that has been covered by many artists, including Elvis Presley. It is known for its upbeat guitar riff and catchy lyrics that make it a popular song to dance to. Interestingly, the song was not a big hit when it was first released, but it has since become one of Muddy Waters' most famous songs.

This really is a good two song medley: Muddy Waters' "Got My Mojo Working" and Priscilla Bowman with Big Jay McShann's "Hands Off Him". Never thought of putting the two together, but that's why Elvis is Elvis.

I love the undubbed master. It rocks so much more than the overdubbed version included in Love Letters from Elvis. The overdubbed bass and horns in the finished product change from a rocking jam to something a little less exciting in my humble opinion. I could listen to this version for days on end.
