Hound Dog
Elvis Presley Lyrics
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine
Well, they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Yeah, they said you was high-classed
Yeah, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine
Well, they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Yeah, they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine
Well, they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Ya know they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
You ain't no friend of mine
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog

"Hound Dog" is a twelve-bar blues written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and originally recorded by Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton in 1952. Other early versions illustrate the differences among blues, country, and rock and roll in the mid 1950s. The 1956 remake by Elvis Presley is the best known version. This is the version that is #19 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. "Hound Dog" was also recorded by 5 country singers in 1953 alone, and over 26 times through 1964. @dovedrips it's not even her song. And there's many other people who covered it too.
Elvis was actually kind enough to let people have their song out for a year before he sang it, most people just grab it right away, his managers were against it yet he still didn't care.
Same as turning down shows that refused black crowds.
Out of all the racist in the world, you choose Elvis, the guy who literally doesn't have a racist bone in his body.
He was inspired by old black music, and when he started playing the black people were the only ones who accepted him, he was hated by the white people and told to go play his N music somewhere else.
They only started "liking" him once they realized they can make a profit off of him, and much more.
They realized the people loved him, so they took advantage.
He was truly the gateway for blacks and whites to be together, before him, there was still heavy segregation, he wanted blacks and whites to party together, and he knew what they went through cause he too lived poor, thats why he stuck up for them.
It baffles me that out of all people, you guys chose the most non racist person to hate on.
When people called him the king, he would say no, Jesus Christ is the king.
And he would also say no, Fatts Domino is the king, no racist man would say that.
He was heavily close to Ali who hated racist people, and he stood with him for black rights.
Elvis racist, come on now, at least find a list of proof before making claims like that, after all this, Elvis a racist, theres no way.

Crying all the time
You ain't nothing but a hound dog

[Verse 2]
When they said you was high classed
Well, that was just a lie
When they said you was high classed
Well, that was just a lie
You ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine
Ahhhhhhhhhh (ahhhh)

I lost my father a little over a couple years ago. I'm a huge metalhead, but, because my father loved this song, I love it as equally.
