Love Me
Elvis Presley Lyrics

Treat me like a fool
Treat me mean and cruel
But love me

Wring my faithful heart
Tear it all apart
But love me (won't you love me?)

And if you ever go
Darling, I'll be oh-so lonely
I'll be sad and blue
Crying over you, dear only

I would beg and steal (beg and steal)
Just to feel (just to feel)
Your heart (I want your heart)
Beatin' close to mine (so close to mine)

Well, if you ever go
Darling, I'll be oh-so lonely
I'll be sad and blue
Crying over you, dear only

I would beg and steal (he would beg and steal)
Just to feel (yes, just to feel)
Your heart (I want your heart)
Beatin' close to mine (so close to mine)

Well, if you ever go
Darling, I'll be oh-so lonely
Beggin' on my knees
All I ask is, please, please, love me
Oh yes

Treat me like a fool,
Treat me mean and cruel,
But love me.

Wring my faithful heart,
Tear it all apart,
But love me.

If you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
I'll be sad and blue,
Crying over you, dear only.

I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin' close to mine

Well, if you ever go,

I'll be sad and blue,

I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin' close to mine

Well, if you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
Beggin' on knees,
All I ask is please, please love me
Oh yeah

This is a masterpiece. His voice in those early days was an instrument. The phrasing, accentuated by that ever present Elvis vibrato, was and still is unsurpassed. He could hit any note with ease, as emotion flowed naturally. This was the first LP I ever owned. It was given to me as a gift from my grandparents. That was it for me. I appreciate his music more now than ever.

I think this is more than just a masterpiece, this isn't just an art piece, this is much more, this is nothing else just but LIFE...! 🕵🏼‍♀️🎶❤️👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🎶

This is a good and accurate description of Elvis' voice. Nice! He was one of a kind for sure.

@Astrobrant2 Interesting that you compare with Patsy Cline´s "Crazy". She is definitely the best country artist from the 60´s and I don´t think anybody later is in her league. And Elvis, of course, is alone in hs league as the reviewer of his show at Madison Square Garden in June of 1972 wrote. "A Prince from another Planet" was the title of the text in The New York Times.

Astrobrant2

It's comparable to Patsy Cline's "Crazy". The things she does with her voice are pure magic, and similar to Elvis. I don't believe she was trying to imitate him, though. She had her own style.

@kluge2000 Leiber and Stoller who wrote Love me have been quoted saying this was the best recording of their songs by Elvis. It´s perfect! Masterpiece as you say, uncjim.

In my humble opinion, this was Elvis's greatest vocal performance ever put to record.
