Though breaking up is one of - if not THE hardest - circumstances many of us have endured, Ann-Margret is an inspiration for those of us who loved her. It showed she was strong and independent, and that she and he could still be friends after they said goodbye. Many of us don’t have that - by the other’s choice. And for me it made the recovery that much more difficult. Ann-Margret wasn’t only talented, she was intelligent too.

I really think these two were genuine soulmates. You could see it by how they speak and how they look at each other. It’s very sad in many ways because it’s a love story that was but yet wasn’t. you can read in various books of Memphis Mafia, he was never with one woman. while he dated Ann Margret he had other women on the sidelines. its not easy sharing your husband with someone. It's not true that Elvis promised Priscilla he'd marry her. She said in an interview that he had NOT talked much about marriage. She became aware there was pressure on him to marry her - his manager pressured him because she'd lived with him for six years. His housekeeper said Elvis cried the night before the wedding because he saw no way out. He loved Priscilla and wanted to be with her, but wasn't going to be faithful.

for most, but especially for performers, between love and career, career always comes first. If you are a performer your need/goal in life is to perform, it's their reason for living, everything else is second.... Having a big ego is part of that - because you are always afraid that that something/someone/anything might kill your chances to ever perform again at the level you aim to.... In my opinion the reason why Elvis never sacked the Colonel, even if wanted to, was simply because he was scared of jeopardizing his career.... I mean, I am sure Elvis would have found lots of managers if he wanted to, but in his head psychologically he was trapped by this fear of not performing and kept on performing even when he was very ill....

Watching Blue Hawaii with Elvis & Joan Blackman it was obvious they were dating. Which has been confirmed by many on set and off. He couldn't keep his hands or eyes off her entire movie. They were such an attractive couple. One of my fav Elvis movies along with Follow That Dream.

I never read or saw an interview with her where she said he had a big ego. She unlike some of the others she didn't bash him or reveal much about him and I think that shows class. At that time Elvis was engaged to Priscilla and it would have been a PR nightmare if he had broken it off. Nothing was ever going to come of that meeting. The one he loved and really wanted was Debra Pagett. He grew instantly infatuated and obsessed with every woman who looked like Debra. Ann resembled her a bit. AM and EP were "in-love." Priscilla knew it and was threatened by it. She changed her hair color, etc. to look like AM. The same as she did when she was in Germany and copied Debra Paget's look to attract EP. As Barbara Leigh said, in 1970 that EP would always talk about AM and you could still see that he was hurt, but he never spoke about Priscilla (paraphrased). EP did not want to marry Priscilla and was forced to do so. Her father threatened to ruin his career. I wish EP would have taken him up on that threat. Nonetheless, calls went out from Graceland (Priscilla) to Paul B (her father) and Paul B. called Parker and Parker contacted EP. EP once said that he had to choose between AM and Priscilla. If you don't want to get married, why would you have to make a choice? Hence, he was "forced" to marry her. Subsequently, in December 1966 he gave Priscilla an engagement ring. He still tried to put the wedding off. I always thought that if you "really" loved someone, you would want them to be happy. Priscilla could have done the "honorable" thing and released EP from that obligation, but she did not. This marriage was NOT about love. Priscilla wanted a Hollywood career. EP told Kathy W. that he always knew that Priscilla didn't love him and that she only wanted a career. I think it was in 1973 that EP went backstage to see AM and wanted to let her know that she still felt the same way about her. Yes, EP always sent AM flowers to the very end. She knew when she didn't receive them, something was wrong. When Shirely Dieu called to notify AM, she immediately screamed and broke down crying.

As far as being intimate, EP had sexual relations with at least three (3), who had biological children: Susan Henning, Barbara Leigh, Ann Pennington. Barbara said, that “From the beginning he knew about her son, Gerry, who was six years old. He knew, too, that Barbara had given birth to him, that she was a mother. Yet ‘it never stopped him from wanting to make love with me or be with me." Priscilla knew about all the women in Germany as well as the states, as she was right there with them in the same house at times. She knew it and she tolerated it. Priscilla was after the Presley name and a "career."

Priscilla did love Elvis. She was with him since she was 14yrs old & would do anything he wanted. He gave her his uppers & downers drugs in pill form to take, she just took them. Well, she said the same thing in her 1985 interview with Barbara Walters. I always thought that was a "strange" answer. What's that got to do with love? That's more like she wasn't going to walkaway empty handed. Mike Stone confirmed this when he said, it came to a point where Pp felt that she would look like a 'laughing stock" if she did not marry him after moving in with him (paraphrased).

Pp met EP when "she approached" Currie Grant to ask him to take her to meet EP approx. 10/59. EP was discharged on 3/2/60 or approx. 5 months later. EP may have met her when she was 14, but he was not continuouslly with her or in communication with her. EP did NOT see her again until she was 17 years old in 6/62 and again in 12/62 for a couple of weeks each time. Her dad dropped her off in Memphis in 3/63, two-months shy of her 18th birthday, an adult.

Upon his discharge (3/2/60) and for the next two years he called her only a "few" times and "never" wrote her. She, on the other hand, continued to "hotly pursuit" him. Anita Wood even found one of her letters that she wrote begging EP to 'Please call my dad. I want to come over there and if you call my dad, I know he will let me come, he will listen to you. I miss you'. The funny thing is there's an approx. 2017 article where Pp says it makes her "sick" when she reads that EP was forced to marry her. She never really did talk about marriage, but she did make a point to say that he is the one that contacted her to come visit him and that she was too "reserved" to invite herself. Just another one of her lies that she continues to promote.
Pp was not some demure innocent 14 year old. Nor is she an innocent 77 year old grandma suing to keep control of Lisa's trust.

In the first place, the narrator, herself, stated, Elvis “had a huge ego”, it wasn’t a quote from Ann-Margret--who has only ever said nice things about Mr P--, as implied by the headline. I believe he was in love with Ann. He knew she was too independent and smart for him in the long run though. He wouldn’t be able to control her. His friends said he’d have times of thinking about if he ended up with her afterwards. She was devoted to her husband for 50 yrs. A person doesn’t keep sending someone flowers till they die yrs later if they never had real feelings for them. That’s what Elvis did with her. Priscilla was a pretty woman especially when she had her lighter hair color. She was just caught up in a whirlwind that started as an infatuated teenager.

Elvis was a traditional southern man in some directions with a redneck background. The most important aspect for the choice of southern guys like Elvis or Jerry Lee Lewis was the wish to rule over women and their girlfriends and wifes. Genetically a marriage of Elvis and her would have been surely a perfect combination. They had similar facial features like ancient indoeuropean aristocrats. But in fact the modern mind of Ann Margret was the problem and Priscilla went later in the same direction. Every alpha- man needs a devote woman. Otherwise the relationship dont work. But the most important thing is the selection and the education and I guess Elvis made many mistakes.

I think Ann was very fortunate in not marrying Elvis. I'm sure it would not have lasted either Elvis was not a one-woman man. Ann would never have cheated on him, but Elvis definitely would have cheated on Ann. As it turned out Ann married a very good man in Roger Smith. They were together for over 50 years. Unfortunately, Elvis wasn't as lucky with his pick, Priscilla wasn't any better than Elvis in the morals department. A real recipe for disaster .

Ann was misquoted, (she says) by a reporter who said that Ann had said that she and Elvis would marry. Priscilla heard about this, and hit the roof. Her parents said that he should either marry Priscilla or break up with her. He suddenly broke up with Ann and married Priscilla. Eight days later, Ann married Roger Smith.

His view on women has nothing to do with this if you look up Anne Margaret's interviews she's never said any of those things. As for Elvis's bodyguards, Elvis said in the end they made him feel like a piece of meat so I doubt that's true. Elvis was a mother's boy so I highly doubt those were his views on women.

Elvis would have been in jail due to Mann Act as he was grooming adolescent Priscilla. He had to marry her. On Elvis' funeral, Vernon stated to Ann that Elvis was proud of her and always considered him as his twin flame. Elvis was a misogynist and Ann is versatile artist deep down under he didn't need to make Ann a housewife it would have destroyed Ann. At least Roger didn't stop Ann from working. You don't need to be like magnets with your twin flames.

She didn't leave Elvis it was reverse. After the movie he wasn't taking her calls anymore, he had decided he was going to marry Priscilla who had found out about them and tried to hit Elvis with a flower vase. One of his stand in movie doubles wrote a book saying that Ann called one time and this guy answered at the studio.. He told her Elvis wasn't there and she said she was going to London for a while and wanted Elvis to know she loved him. Elvis was not ever jealous of Ann, it was Parker who complained that She got more screen time. This is the truth.
