Upon the band's formation, they released one extended play (EP) in 2007, titled This Is Your Way Out, and shortly after, the group underwent significant line-up and sound changes, dropping their metalcore influence and leaning towards a more rock sound. The band released their debut studio album, Relativity (2008), which featured vocalist Jonny Craig and rhythm guitarist Jonas Ladekjaer. Their second studio album, Emarosa, was released in June 2010, to critical acclaim, and was Craig's final album with the group.
Following Craig's departure, the band toured briefly with a fill-in vocalist before entering a period of inactivity. Eventually, Craig was formally replaced by Walden. Emarosa then released their third studio album, Versus, on September 9, 2014, which peaked at No. 61 in the Billboard 200. The band signed to Hopeless Records and released their fourth and fifth studio albums, 131 (2016) and Peach Club (2019). A sixth, Sting, is set for release in January 2023.

Givin' Up
Emarosa Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When I look, it's so sad
Yeah, I'm pissed and loose, but I cannot play the games
And it makes me so mad
I'm losing what I'm doing
And I don't think I like living this way
I'm new here, but I'm through here
Tell me it's enough
I'm thinking that it's enough
But I don't know what else I can do
And I could give it up
I'm thinking of giving up
But I bet I've got one left for you
No fear collecting little vixens you played, uh
When I look, it's so sad, oh
But I'm sick of doing this, enough is not enough
It's never you who's giving in, oh
I'm losing what I'm doing
And I don't think I like living this way
I'm new here, but I'm through here
And the part of me that loved it went away
Tell me it's enough
I'm thinking that it's enough
But I don't know what else I can do
And I could give it up
I'm thinking of giving up
But I bet I've got one left for you
Tell me it's enough
I'm thinking that it's enough
But I don't know what else I can do
And I could give it up
I'm thinking of giving up
But I bet I've got one left for you
Tell me it's enough
I'm thinking that it's enough
But I don't know what else I can do
And I could give it up
I'm thinking of giving up
But I bet I've got one left for you
Tell me it's enough
I'm thinking that it's enough
But I don't know what else I can do
And I could give it up
I'm thinking of giving up
But I bet I've got one left for you
But I bet I've got one left for you
The lyrics of Emarosa's song "Givin' Up" reflect feelings of frustration and disillusionment with life. The singer feels like they are losing at the end of the day and cannot play the games that are expected of them. This sense of inadequacy and anger builds up, and they contemplate giving up. However, there is a glimmer of hope in the last line when they assert that they have one more effort left for someone special.
The song's lyrics capture the struggle of trying to find meaning and purpose in a world that can often feel arbitrary and unforgiving. The singer is fed up with the routine of their life and feels like they cannot keep going down this path. However, they still cling to the possibility that they might find something worth holding onto and fighting for.
In many ways, "Givin' Up" speaks to the restlessness and anxiety that can plague young people as they navigate their way through life. The lyrics are both vulnerable and defiant, showing the tension between hope and despair that characterizes the human experience.

You either die a post hardcore band, or you live long enough to see yourself become an incredible pop band.
@nadavguy10
They did what SWS couldnt
@rapper5933
I think the song is... decent. But let's not act like they've struck gold here. I don't think Emarosa has considerably more fans since their days with Craig, Sowers etc. It's a mesh between P!ATD and Maroon 5. Again, that's not bad.. I enjoy both those bands. But if you're going to claim that your post-hardcore days are over, why not just change the name? Rebrand. There first album or two with Bradley was a big shift from old Emarosa.. but this really isn't even the same sound.
@sidneystarkeep1
This analysis is wrong on so many levels, but mostly because they were already no longer a post hardcore band. The shift away from that began on Versus and I would argue it was completed on 131. This is less of an evolution away from post hardcore and more of step sideways, possibly even backwards.
@Blueshellkyle
Nathan Mahlmeister have they really been a post hardcore band since Corsets and Cages though?
@ddddanribeiro
omg yes
@Ramblinbran
Replacing heavy breakdowns with a sax breakdown is something I can totally get behind after this song
@chinedumjosiah4398
I can't begin to imagine the kind of additional damage this song would've done to me if Tilian was featured...
@parmera
Chinedum Josiah hahahah 100% agreed
@hardcore4665
Man what a monster of a track that would be with those two.
