Upon the band's formation, they released one extended play (EP) in 2007, titled This Is Your Way Out, and shortly after, the group underwent significant line-up and sound changes, dropping their metalcore influence and leaning towards a more rock sound. The band released their debut studio album, Relativity (2008), which featured vocalist Jonny Craig and rhythm guitarist Jonas Ladekjaer. Their second studio album, Emarosa, was released in June 2010, to critical acclaim, and was Craig's final album with the group.
Following Craig's departure, the band toured briefly with a fill-in vocalist before entering a period of inactivity. Eventually, Craig was formally replaced by Walden. Emarosa then released their third studio album, Versus, on September 9, 2014, which peaked at No. 61 in the Billboard 200. The band signed to Hopeless Records and released their fourth and fifth studio albums, 131 (2016) and Peach Club (2019). A sixth, Sting, is set for release in January 2023.

Truth Hurts While Laying On Your Back

Please let it go,
Yes, I'm..
I'm coming over top.
You called..
You sounded weak,
It all makes sense,
I guess he got away,
You don't need it anymore.
So lock the door,
Cause we're alone.
No shame in taking off,
Everything you tried to wear.
So save your words,
Don't smile at all.
In the end, we all feel the pull.
These sharper words that I formed,
They're already gone now,
We'll be ghosts, these ghosts that I have,
And these nights fade together,
And end our road,
In your own..
Alone..
So lock the door,
Cause we're alone.
No shame in taking off,
Everything you tried to wear.
So save your words,
Don't smile at all,
In the end, we all feel the pull.
I think it's time you let go, (whoa)
The things that keep you trapped on your back.
And I promise that his taste won't,
Last forever, ohh.
I promise that he won't be me,
I.. Oh I promise,
He won't wake up.
I promise that he won't be me,
I.. Oh I promise. (Ohh..)
So lock the door,
Cause we're alone.
No shame in taking off,
Everything you tried to wear.
So save your words,
Don't smile at all,
In the end, we all feel the pull.
The song "Truth Hurts While Laying On Your Back" by Emarosa explores the aftermath of a failed relationship. The opening lines "It's in our home. Please let it go" suggest that the memories of the past relationship are haunting the singer and he is asking his partner to move on from it. He assures her that he is coming over to take care of her. The next few lines "You called, you sounded weak, it all makes sense, it all. I guess he got away, you don't need it anymore" indicate that his partner has just broken up with someone and the singer is trying to console her.
The chorus "So lock the door, cause we're alone. No shame in taking off, everything you tried to wear. So save your words, don't smile at all. In the end, we all feel the pull" suggests that the singer is trying to encourage his partner to be comfortable with him and shed her inhibitions. He asks her to lock the door, take off her defenses and just be herself. He tells her not to pretend or put on a fake smile because eventually, everyone succumbs to the pull of their true emotions and desires.
The bridge of the song "I think it's time you let go. The things that keep you trapped on your back. And I promise that his taste won't, last forever, ohh. I promise that he won't be me, I.. Oh I promise, he won't wake up. I promise that he won't be me, I.. Oh I promise" is the singer reassuring his partner that he is different from her ex and their relationship will be different. He tells her to let go of the past and he promises that he won't hurt her like her ex did.
Overall, the song is a powerful message of hope in the aftermath of a toxic relationship. The singer is encouraging his partner to let go of the past and move on with him, promising her a better future.

Its a good ass album. I love listening to the unreleased demo versions of all these songs as well. I have them burned on a CD for my car and its fun comparing the early versions of these songs to the fully produced album versions.

Jonny puts his entire soul into his music. You can feel the emotions that run deep, the pain that drives him, and the passionate respect for music that pulsates through every note that comes from his gold-throated voice. That's what makes him the god he is.
