1. Embrio was a Gothic Rock / Metal band from Sinj, Croatia, formed in 2000 by the singer / songwriter / guitarist Branimir Vugdelija and bassist Vlade Marinović.
They were soon joined by Damir Samardžić on guitar, Branimir's younger brother Rino on drums and Petar Radović on keyboards.
At the end of 2002 Embrio released their first demo To My Beloved....
At the beginning of 2004 Rino Vugdelija left the band and was replaced by Antuća Ugrin.
During the 2004 and 2005 Embrio were preparing and recording the material for their first album. Just when the recording sessions were over, Vlade Marinović and Antuća Ugrin left the band.
Denis Brkić became the new bassist and former drummer Rino Vugdelija returned.
Embrio's first album Gabriel's Grief was self-released at the end of 2005.
In 2007 Nikola Buljan joined as the new lead guitarist, as Branimir wanted to concentrate more on his singing.
On July 21st 2007 Branimir Vugdelija died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 24.
After the tragic loss of their frontman and main songwriter, Embrio decided to continue. Petar Radović switched from keyboards to lead vocals and Josip Marković was brought as a new keyboardist, so the band started working on the new material.
On August 13th 2012 Embrio announced on their official site that the band was splitting up due to musical and personal differences.
As a tribute to Branimir Vugdelija, a memorial concert is held every year in Sinj.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Embrio's song Grounded speak to feeling trapped and suffocated by those around us. The singer of the song feels surrounded by people who try to consume them and hide them away from the world. Their oppressors have turned their sky into their ground, symbolizing how trapped and hopeless they feel. However, the singer takes charge and decides to pull their oppressors down with them, metaphorically drowning them in their own toxicity.
