E festivais no Jardim Hebron, mó banca sinistra
Saudade do jogo verdadeiro
Eu?
Vou te falar, lembra (Lembra!)
De tudo que conseguimos ser (Tudo!)
Casos pra contar, rir e chorar
Isso não pode se perder (Jamais!)
Independente do caminho diretriz (É!)
Serviu pros ego inflar e camuflar o ócio
Muito rei pra pouco trono
Porque a cultura aqui é uma criança e ninguém notou o abandono
Cadê a disciplina, respeito pelas mina
Ver roupa, cap, sentir a magia
E cumprir o papel
Casos pra contar, rir e chorar
Isso não pode se perder (Jamais!)
Independente do caminho diretriz (É!)
In Emicida's song "Isso Não Pode Se Perder," he reminisces about his early days in the Brazilian hip-hop scene. The first verse describes the community's DIY approach in the '90s, where they would wear cheap clothes and paint their own hats to fit in. They were outsiders, not on the guest list, and far from pop stars, yet they were always ready to battle and show off their skills. They would freestyle to the beat of a bus, and afterwards, they would grab a sandwich with bologna. Emicida longs for the pure joy of that time, where they hoped to make a difference in social causes and needed to be creative with minimal resources.
In the second verse, Emicida addresses how the culture has evolved and how success and business have diluted its authenticity. He expresses the importance of keeping the connection to their roots and maintaining the culture's purity. He believes that despite the temptations of material success, it's essential to stay true to themselves and their artistic vision, which should be guided by the heart rather than profit margins.
Overall, the song reflects on the evolution of Brazilian hip-hop and the challenges it faces in staying true to its roots while still being able to succeed commercially.
