Fool Me Too
Emile Haynie Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning | Line by Line Meaning
Paid the cost now I move on
'Cause you just keep on coming around
With all the tales of how you're down
To be the woman that was in my dreams
Just my silence that makes you scream
All those yells and all those cries
Get drowned out by all your lies
How hard you tried
To not say goodbye
But it's time for you to be alone
Oh now I'm doing just fine
Stop wasting your time
Trying and trying to fool me to fall in love again
So now you're still so blind
Keep wasting your time
Trying and trying to fool me to fall in love again
Yeah, yeah, yeah
To fool me to fall in love again, ooh
Pushed you out but then I let you in
Closed my eyes and you went off within
And I don't know who taught you how to act
But you ain't gotta behave like that
Now I've gone and it burns your heart
And you'll say anything to make it stop
But all those yells and all those cries
Get drowned out by all your lies
How hard you tried
To not say goodbye
But it's time for you to be alone
Now I'm doing just fine
Stop wasting your time
Trying and trying to fool me to fall in love again
So now you're still so blind
Keep wasting your time
Trying and trying to fool me to fall in love again
Yeah, yeah, yeah
To fool me to fall in love again
It used to feel like love
And you can't go on
And you can't go on
Is it just too much?
And it holds you high
But does it break you down
And does it turn you wild
Well does it turn you wild?
All my love's left in that ocean, no
Every feel that I become
Now I'm moving on
Now I'm doing just fine
Stop wasting your time
Trying and trying to fool me to fall in love again
So now you're still so blind
Keep wasting your time
Trying and trying to fool me to fall in love again
Yeah, yeah, yeah
To fool me to fall in love again
To fool me to fall in love again
Trying and trying to fool me to fall in love again
In Emile Haynie's song Fool Me Too, the lyrics describe a relationship that is toxic and has come to an end. The speaker starts by saying they have been lost for a long time, but they have paid the cost and are moving on. However, their ex-partner keeps coming back with tales of how they have changed and how they want to be the person the speaker has always dreamed of. The speaker knows that this is all lies, and their partner is only trying to fool them into falling in love again.
The second verse talks about how the speaker let their partner back in, but they quickly realized that they have not changed. Their partner is still behaving badly, and they are saying anything to make the speaker stay. Despite their partner's efforts, the speaker knows it is time for them to move on and be alone. The repeating chorus emphasizes the idea that the speaker cannot be fooled into falling in love again and that their ex-partner is still blind for trying.
Overall, the song is about the struggle of letting go of toxic love and moving forward. It speaks to the larger theme of learning from past mistakes and not allowing yourself to be fooled by someone's false promises.

I've been lost for far too long
I’ve been wandering aimlessly for too long
Paid the cost now I move on
I’ve paid the price and now it’s time to move forward
'Cause you just keep on coming around
You keep showing up
With all the tales of how you're down
You tell me all your troubles
To be the woman that was in my dreams
You say you want to be the woman I always dreamed of
Just my silence that makes you scream
Your own silence makes you feel uncomfortable and restless
All those yells and all those cries
All your shouting and crying
Get drowned out by all your lies
Are overshadowed by the lies you tell me
How hard you tried
To not say goodbye
But it's time for you to be alone
You struggled not to leave but it’s time for you to be on your own
Oh now I'm doing just fine
I’m doing well now
Stop wasting your time
Trying and trying to fool me to fall in love again
Stop trying to deceive me into falling in love with you again
So now you're still so blind
Keep wasting your time
Trying and trying to fool me to fall in love again
You are still unaware of the truth and continue to waste your time trying to deceive me into loving you
Pushed you out but then I let you in
I pushed you away but then allowed you back into my life
Closed my eyes and you went off within
I closed my eyes and let you inside my heart
And I don't know who taught you how to act
I don’t know who taught you to behave the way you do
But you ain't gotta behave like that
But you don’t have to act that way
Now I've gone and it burns your heart
Now that I’m gone, it hurts your heart
And you'll say anything to make it stop
You’ll say anything to make the pain go away
It used to feel like love
It used to feel like we were in love
And you can't go on
And you can't go on
Is it just too much?
You can’t keep going like this. Is it too much for you?
And it holds you high
But does it break you down
And does it turn you wild
Well does it turn you wild?
It makes you feel good but does it also hurt you and make you act irrationally? Does it make you act crazy?
All my love's left in that ocean, no
All my love is left behind in the past
Every feel that I become
Everything that I am
Now I'm moving on
Now I’m letting go and moving forward
To fool me to fall in love again
You’re trying to trick me into falling in love with you again

Haynie is a native of Buffalo, New York. He started primarily as a sample-driven hip-hop producer and got his first big break after handing off a beat CD to now-deceased, Detroit rapper Proof. He then began producing for various members of Eminem’s Detroit camp, as well as New York City rappers Raekwon, Cormega, and C-Rayz Walz.[1] He relocated to New York City and got his start as a hip hop producer in the early 2000s, collaborating with rappers Obie Trice, Ghostface Killah, The Roots, Cormega, M.O.P., Rhymefest, and AZ. His career grew and, by the second half of 2000's first decade, he had worked with Ice Cube, Slaughterhouse, Eminem, Kanye West and Kid Cudi. Haynie remixed Michael Jackson's 1972 song, "Maria (You Were the Only One)", for the 2009 album Michael Jackson: The Remix Suite.
In 2009, Haynie, along with record producer Patrick “Plain Pat” Reynolds and recording artist Kid Cudi launched their record label, Dream On, in partnership with Kanye West's GOOD Music and Universal Motown. Cudi announced in February 2011 however, that the label had been dissolved. Cudi stated to Complex magazine that they were still on good terms: "I wanted to try something new, and I wanted to take control of things myself.[...] There’s no hard feelings." The label released Kid Cudi's albums, Man on the Moon: The End of Day (2009) and Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager (2010).
Haynie was nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award for Album of the Year and won for Best Rap Album for Eminem's Recovery. He co-produced Kanye West's 2010 single, "Runaway", and expanded into pop music, working with Lana Del Rey, Bruno Mars and Fun..[1] Haynie produced Lana Del Rey's 2012 album, Born to Die, which debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at number two, and at number one in Britain, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland and Austria, respectively.[7] Alongside Jeff Bhasker, Haynie also produced Fun's second album Some Nights (2012). Haynie also co-wrote Lady Antebellum's 2013's single, "Compass".
On January 19, 2015, Haynie announced he would be releasing his debut studio album, titled We Fall, featuring guest appearances from Andrew Wyatt, Brian Wilson, Rufus Wainwright, Lana Del Rey, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sampha, Devonte Hynes, Nate Ruess, Andrew Wyatt, Colin Blunstone, Lykke Li, Romy Beat, Randy Newman, Father John Misty and Julie Holter. The album, which was recorded over the course of six months in Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont, was made available for pre-order the following day and was revealed to be released February 23, 2015, under Interscope Records

I've been lost for far too long
Paid the cost now I move on
'Cause you just keep on coming around
