Nobody Believes You
Emile Haynie Lyrics

Hating every single one of them
Does the couple come, so we pretend high and
And the couple puts it over then
Don't you know you're the company you keep? (You keep)
I bet those fools you're gonna stay
Don't you know you'll forever be too weak (Too weak)
To ever get the chance to run away
Just a sad, sad tale,
Of another man calling, another man calling, another man calling
In a mad, mad world
Of a little girl love, little girl love, little girl love
Open up your eyes and see the truth
Nobody believes you, nobody believes you
Nobody believes you, nobody believes you
So I re-read all your poems
Thank the Lord that I'm alone
Such a low I thought that's in your tone
To wonder that you figured out your phone
Don't you know that I'd never be so numb (So numb)
To ever wanna come back again
Don't you know you'll forever be too dumb (Too dumb)
To start to figure out what's happening
Just a sad, sad tale,
Of another man calling, another man calling, another man calling
In a mad, mad world
Of a little girl love, little girl love, little girl love
Open up your eyes and see the truth
Nobody believes you, nobody believes you
Nobody believes you, nobody believes you
Oh, you're not the only one to blame
It takes two to play the game
Thought I'd play what I was dealt
Just turns out I play it myself
Dumb to down I was a clown
I slept sound and you slept around
Anyone, anyone can see it now!
Just a sad, sad tale,
Of another man calling, another man calling, another man calling
In a mad, mad world
Of a little girl love, little girl love, little girl love
Just a sad, sad tale,
Of another man calling, another man calling, another man calling
In a mad, mad world
Of a little girl love, little girl love, little girl love
Open up your eyes and see the truth
Nobody believes you, nobody believes you
Nobody believes you, nobody believes you
Nobody believes you
The lyrics to Emile Haynie's song Nobody Believes You tell the story of a failing relationship. The narrator is questioning the company their partner keeps, implying that they are not happy with their partner's choice of friends. The narrator suggests that the "couple puts it over," meaning that they are trying to hide something, likely the issues in their relationship. The repeated line "Don't you know you're the company you keep?" emphasizes the idea that our associations reflect on us.
Throughout the song, the narrator expresses a lack of belief in their partner's words and actions, implying that they have been dishonest or unfaithful. The line "So I re-read all your poems," suggests that the narrator is attempting to gain insight into their partner's thoughts and feelings, but ultimately realizes that they are alone in dealing with the situation. The line "Nobody believes you" is repeated throughout the song, and it's clear that the narrator has lost faith in their partner's ability to be truthful.
Overall, Nobody Believes You is a melancholic reflection on a relationship that has failed due to a lack of trust and honesty. The repeated lines and somber tone convey a sense of hopelessness and resignation, as if the narrator knows that there is no hope for repairing the relationship.

When I think about your friends
I consider your group of friends
Hating every single one of them
Disliking each and every friend you have
Does the couple come, so we pretend high and
Do those couples join us, and then we pretend we're better off
And the couple puts it over then
And that couple makes us look bad
Don't you know you're the company you keep? (You keep)
You should know that you are judged by the people you surround yourself with
I bet those fools you're gonna stay
I bet you'll continue to associate with those fools
Don't you know you'll forever be too weak (Too weak)
You should realize that you will always be too weak to escape their influence
To ever get the chance to run away
You'll never have the opportunity to break free
So I re-read all your poems
I read through all of your poems again
Thank the Lord that I'm alone
I'm grateful that I don't have to deal with anyone else's drama
Such a low I thought that's in your tone
Your tone indicates that you are in a dark place
To wonder that you figured out your phone
I'm surprised you even know how to use your phone
Don't you know that I'd never be so numb (So numb)
You should realize that I would never be so apathetic
To ever wanna come back again
That I would never want to return to this situation
Don't you know you'll forever be too dumb (Too dumb)
You should realize that you will always be unenlightened
To start to figure out what's happening
To start to understand what's going on
Oh, you're not the only one to blame
You're not solely responsible
It takes two to play the game
It requires participation from both parties
Thought I'd play what I was dealt
I assumed I would just deal with what I was given
Just turns out I play it myself
It seems like I'm dealing with everything alone
Dumb to down I was a clown
I was foolish for putting up with this
I slept sound and you slept around
I was at peace while you were being promiscuous
Anyone, anyone can see it now!
It's obvious to anyone who looks at the situation now!
Open up your eyes and see the truth
Wake up and realize what's really happening
Nobody believes you, nobody believes you
No one trusts what you say
Nobody believes you, nobody believes you
No one trusts what you say
Nobody believes you, nobody believes you
No one trusts what you say

Haynie is a native of Buffalo, New York. He started primarily as a sample-driven hip-hop producer and got his first big break after handing off a beat CD to now-deceased, Detroit rapper Proof. He then began producing for various members of Eminem’s Detroit camp, as well as New York City rappers Raekwon, Cormega, and C-Rayz Walz.[1] He relocated to New York City and got his start as a hip hop producer in the early 2000s, collaborating with rappers Obie Trice, Ghostface Killah, The Roots, Cormega, M.O.P., Rhymefest, and AZ. His career grew and, by the second half of 2000's first decade, he had worked with Ice Cube, Slaughterhouse, Eminem, Kanye West and Kid Cudi. Haynie remixed Michael Jackson's 1972 song, "Maria (You Were the Only One)", for the 2009 album Michael Jackson: The Remix Suite.
In 2009, Haynie, along with record producer Patrick “Plain Pat” Reynolds and recording artist Kid Cudi launched their record label, Dream On, in partnership with Kanye West's GOOD Music and Universal Motown. Cudi announced in February 2011 however, that the label had been dissolved. Cudi stated to Complex magazine that they were still on good terms: "I wanted to try something new, and I wanted to take control of things myself.[...] There’s no hard feelings." The label released Kid Cudi's albums, Man on the Moon: The End of Day (2009) and Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager (2010).
Haynie was nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award for Album of the Year and won for Best Rap Album for Eminem's Recovery. He co-produced Kanye West's 2010 single, "Runaway", and expanded into pop music, working with Lana Del Rey, Bruno Mars and Fun..[1] Haynie produced Lana Del Rey's 2012 album, Born to Die, which debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at number two, and at number one in Britain, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland and Austria, respectively.[7] Alongside Jeff Bhasker, Haynie also produced Fun's second album Some Nights (2012). Haynie also co-wrote Lady Antebellum's 2013's single, "Compass".
On January 19, 2015, Haynie announced he would be releasing his debut studio album, titled We Fall, featuring guest appearances from Andrew Wyatt, Brian Wilson, Rufus Wainwright, Lana Del Rey, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sampha, Devonte Hynes, Nate Ruess, Andrew Wyatt, Colin Blunstone, Lykke Li, Romy Beat, Randy Newman, Father John Misty and Julie Holter. The album, which was recorded over the course of six months in Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont, was made available for pre-order the following day and was revealed to be released February 23, 2015, under Interscope Records
