Infinite
Eminem Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Aw yeah (it's like this, it's like this)
It's Eminem, baby
Back up in that motherfuckin' ass ('til forever)
One time for your motherfuckin' mind (for MC's)
We represent the 313, you know what I'm sayin'?
Yo, they don't know shit about this, for the '96

Ayo, my pen and paper cause a chain reaction
To get your brain relaxing, a zany acting maniac in action
A brainiac in fact, son, you mainly lack attraction
You look insanely wack when just a fraction of my tracks run
My rhyming skills got you climbing hills
I travel through your mind into your spine like siren drills
I'm sliming grills of roaches, with spray that disinfects
And twistin' necks of rappers 'til their spinal column disconnects
Put this in decks and check the monologue
Turn your system up, twist 'em up
And indulge in the marijuana smog
This is the season for noise pollution contamination
Examination of more car-tunes than animation
My lamination of nar-er-ration, hits a snare and bass
On a track for duck rapper interrogation
When I declare invasion, there ain't no time to be starin' gazin'
I turn the stage into a barren wasteland, I'm Infinite

You heard of Hell, well, I was sent from it
I went to it, servin' a sentence for murderin' instruments
Now I'm tryna repent from it
But when I hear the beat, I'm tempted
To make another attempt at it, I'm Infinite

Bust it, I let the beat commence
So I can beat the sense in your elite defense
I got some meat to mince
A crew to stomp, and then two feet to rinse
I greet the gents and ladies, I spoil loyal fans
I foil plans and leave fluids leakin' like oil pans
My coiled hands around this microphone are lethal
One thought in my cerebral
Is deeper than a Jeep-full of people
MC's are feeble, I came to cause some pandemonium
Battle a band of phony MC's, and stand the lonely one
Imitator, intimidator, stimulator
Simulator of data, eliminator
There's never been a greater since the burial of Jesus
Fuck around and catch all the venereal diseases
My thesis'll smash a stereo to pieces
My a cappella releases classic masterpieces
Through telekinesis, it eases you mentally
Gently, sentimentally, instrumentally
With entity, dementedly meant to be Infinite

You heard of Hell, well, I was sent from it
I went to it, servin' a sentence for murderin' instruments
Now I'm tryna repent from it
But when I hear the beat, I'm tempted
To make another attempt at it, I'm Infinite

Man, I got evidence, I'm never dense
And I've been clever ever since my residence was hesitant
To do some shit that represents the MO
So I'm assumin' all responsibility
'Cause there's a monster will in me
That always wants to kill MC's
Mic nestler, slammin' like a wrestler
Here to make a mess of a lyric-smugglin' embezzler
No one is specialer, my skill is intergalactical
I get cynical, act a fool
Then I send a crew back to school
I never packed a tool or acted cool, it wasn't practical
I'd rather let a tactical, tactful track tickle your fancy
In fact, I can't see, or can't imagine
A man who ain't a lover of beats or a fan of scratchin'
So this is for my family, the kid who had a cameo
On my last jam, plus the man who never had a plan B
Be all you can be, 'cause once you make an instant hit
I'm tensed a bit, and tempted
When I see the sins my friends commit, I'm Infinite

You heard of Hell, well, I was sent from it
I went to it, servin' a sentence for murderin' instruments
Now I'm tryna repent from it
But when I hear the beat, I'm tempted
To make another attempt at it, I'm Infinite

You heard of Hell, well, I was sent from it
I went to it, servin' a sentence for murderin' instruments
Now I'm tryna repent from it
But when I hear the beat, I'm tempted
To make another attempt at it, I'm Infinite

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Eminem's song Infinite are a combination of his self-promotion and a boast about his lyrical ability. In the first verse, he refers to his pen and paper as a cause of a chain reaction, which relaxes the listener's brain. He is acting like a maniac, and the whole process makes him a brainiac whose lyrical ability is unmatched by any other rapper. The mention of 'climbing hills' suggests his rhyming skills are on a different level from the other MC's and take listeners on a journey through their minds. He boasts of the ability to turn the stage into a barren wasteland when he 'declares invasion.'

The second verse continues the braggadocio, mentioning that he was sent from Hell and served a sentence for murderin' instruments. However, despite this past, he is trying to repent. Whenever he hears a beat, he is tempted to make another attempt, hence calling himself Infinite. The verse has a lot of wordplay, with references to mincing meat, stomp crew feet to rinse, and fluid leakin' like the oil pans.

Overall, the lyrics represent Eminem's self-promotion at a time when he was still an up-and-coming rapper. It is full of wordplay, punchlines, and metaphorical references that showcase his exceptional lyrical ability.

Line by Line Meaning

Ayo, my pen and paper cause a chain reaction
My writing has an intense impact on people, causing them to relax and become completely wrapped up in my words, as I act crazy and perform like a maniac on stage. I am very smart and intelligent, while you lack any kind of charm or attraction. When people hear just a small portion of my talented rhymes, they realize how much better I am than anyone else out there.

My rhyming skills got you climbing hills
My ability to craft rhyming verses is so impressive that it makes people feel like they're ascending steep hills. As I flow through your ears and down into the deepest parts of your soul, you'll feel the sensation of my powerful grip as if it's drilling into your spine like a siren blaring in your eyes.

I'm sliming grills of roaches, with spray that disinfects
I'm so talented that I can destroy inferior rappers just as easily as I can kill roaches with poisonous chemicals. Nobody can match me, not even other Roaches, because I am superior.

And twistin' necks of rappers 'til their spinal column disconnects
When I violently turn the heads of other rappers, I can break their spinal columns and disconnect their nerves. By twisting necks and breaking bones, I'm able to silence anyone that dares to go against my talents and skills as a major rapper.

You heard of Hell, well, I was sent from it
When you think of Hell, imagine how difficult it was for the world to receive me -- someone who can only be described as a force of destruction and chaos. Even though I’ve been sent here as a punishment, I’m equipped with skills that will allow me to dominate and take over the rap industry.

I went to it, servin' a sentence for murderin' instruments
I spent time in Hell after committing heinous crimes against music, providing lyrics that were so deadly that they destroyed peoples’ spirits. I’ve been sent to Hell to pay the price for creating such destructive art.

Now I'm tryna repent from it
Now, I want to repent for the destruction I’ve brought on people with my lyrics. I want to make amends for turning my back on the industry by becoming a better person and providing positive and relatable music for my fans.

But when I hear the beat, I'm tempted
However, when I hear a good beat, I always feel the need to jump on it and start rapping about my life and my experiences. I can't resist coming up with new lyrics and music, even though it may trigger negative responses from my past.

To make another attempt at it, I'm Infinite
When I'm creating music, I feel like I’m born again and the entire creative process becomes so natural to me that it appears to be infinite. It's like I've touched a higher power of sorts that is guiding me through every step.

I get cynical, act a fool
Sometimes, when I’m overwhelmed with my talent or the media, I get cynical and frustrated, and act like a fool on stage. I never take myself or my success too seriously and it’s always a good time to get up and have fun and wild out.

Then I send a crew back to school
When a rap crew thinks that they can take me on, I school them by sending them back to where they came from. I'm so much better than my competition that it’s easy to take them down one by one.

I never packed a tool or acted cool, it wasn't practical
I don't need weapons or to be someone I’m not -- I’m already superior and this kind of behavior would be unnecessary. So instead, I prefer to simply remain cool and focused, using my keen talents, skills, and rhymes to take down any challenger.

I'd rather let a tactical, tactful track tickle your fancy
Rather than harming people, I’d prefer to relax them and just play my music, getting my crowd pumped up with great beats and rhymes, creating a more positive atmosphere for everyone to be involved in.

So this is for my family, the kid who had a cameo
In order to show love to my dedicated and loyal fan base, I’ve created this song. I also want to pay homage to my younger self who struggled to find acceptance in the industry.

Be all you can be, 'cause once you make an instant hit
My message to anyone who wants to make it in the industry is to be yourself and work hard to create something that’s truly great. And once you’ve made it and the instant hits start rolling in, you need to stay focused and remind yourself what got you there in the first place.

I'm tensed a bit, and tempted
Even though I’m a successful and accomplished artist, I still get nervous and tense whenever I’m in front of a beat or need to create new music. However, the temptation to create something great always wins out in the end.

When I see the sins my friends commit, I'm Infinite
No matter what my friends do or how they may fall short, I'm always able to forget it and continue to create good music. Again, my passion is almost otherworldly and can't be stopped or contained.

@HeartNDagger18

… My songs can make you cry, take you by surprise at the same time
Can make you dry your eyes with the same rhyme
See what you're seein' is a genius at work, which to me isn't work
So it's easy to misinterpret it at first
'Cause when I speak, it's tongue-in-cheek
I'd yank my fuckin' teeth before I'd ever bite my tongue
I'd slice my gums, get struck by fuckin' lightning twice at once
And die and come back as Vanilla Ice's son
And walk around the rest of my life spit on
And kicked and hit with shit every time I sung
Like R. Kelly as soon as "Bump and Grind" comes on
More pain inside of my brain than the eyes of a little girl
Inside of a plane aimed at the World Trade, standin' on Ronnie's grave
Screamin' at the sky, 'til clouds gather, it's Clyde Mathers and Bonnie Jade
And that's pretty much the gist of it
Parents are pissed, but the kids love it
Nine millimeter heater stashed in two-seaters with meat cleavers
I don't blame you, I wouldn't let Hailie listen to me neither

I feel like if he announced he was doing a farewell tour. He should play this song at his final show. Because 24 years ago he had nothing. But now he is infinite.

Infinite was a lost GEM. This is one of his best songs.

@jameslahey6358

But it’s dementedly meant to be infinite

@raverRyan2764

He unfortunately received no praise for this style. Most people wanted the wild Slim Shady whos trying to steal your moms Xans after he decapitates her and uses her head as a hand puppet.

@jakeoleksienko2301

His best album in my opinion. So amazing!
