Eminem - Venom Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ayo (ayo)
What do you think about two grown ass men living together?
Haha, alright (Whoo Kid)
Well, what do you think about another grown ass man
Living right upstairs from 'em?
Well, them two grown ass men living together on my nuts
And that's you right above 'em
Get the fuck off 'em

When I rhyme, somehow I think I must be subliminally throwin'
Viagra at these fags that got these hard-ons for me
But I suppose anything goes when it comes to my flows
Nothin' is off limits, except for Michael's nose
I didn't know, I'm so sorry, please tell me what I can do
To make it up to those of you who I offended
Ooh, I got it, I got an apology for Steve Harvey too
It's in my pocket, uh, wait, here it is, fuck you
Hey, what do you say, Andre? What's new?
Life is good, man, I'm chillin', 50, how 'bout you?
Yayo's out of jail, Buck is out on bail

We'll get through, we always do
ODB, rest in peace, G-G-G-Unit

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Eminem's "Monster" featuring Rihanna is full of controversial lines and surprises. In the first verse, Eminem throws shade at two grown-ass men who live together, suggesting the people who live above them have feelings for them. It's a questionable line, but it is a reflection of how people talk behind others' back. The second verse is where Eminem becomes more introspective, as he talks about his rhyming style and his unconscious ability to subliminally attract gay men to him. He jokes about not being able to offend Michael Jackson's nose and apologizes to those he offended, albeit insincerely.

The chorus is where Rihanna comes in, singing about being a monster under Eminem's bed. This is a metaphoric way of saying she is the devil on his shoulder, where he continues to make controversies and drama in his life. With the way this song is written and composed, the title "Monster" seems apt because of the dark and conflicting subject matters it addresses.
