Let It Snow

A rally no one hears about
She's driving through the snow
Forgetting all the kids she used to know
We're back in '69
She hears some fresh faced-kid declare
That she wasn't quite alive
She knows were a bit of deep shit this time
Oooh I came for peace
And walked away with nothing
Ooh I'll try at least and maybe I'll learn something
Let it snow let it go
And see you in the springtime
Let it snow let it go
Let it snow
Better wear your vest
Chain up your new 4x4
We're sliding on thin ice
And strangers give us all good advice
Truth is burning down
She melted all the ice downtown
With million mp3's
She's still looking for a way to be free
Oooh I came for peace
And walked away with nothing
Ooh I'll try at least and maybe I'll learn something
Let it snow let it go
And see you in the springtime
Let it snow let it go
Let it snow
Let it snow let it go
And see you in the springtime
Let it snow let it go
Let it snow
Emm Gryner's song "Let It Snow" presents a bittersweet reflection on the past, the present, and what the future may hold. The imagery of a snow angel in the dark and driving through the snow creates a sense of isolation and loneliness, while the mention of a rally that no one hears about implies a sense of frustration with the lack of meaningful change being made. The line "Forgetting all the kids she used to know" speaks to a desire to move on from the past and a sense of disillusionment with what was once familiar.
The mention of '69 may refer to the summer of love, emphasizing how far removed the present is from that time of idealism and hope. The "fresh-faced kid" declaring she wasn't quite alive suggests a certain level of wisdom and experience that comes with age and time, further emphasizing the singer's disillusionment.
Despite this sense of frustration, the chorus refrain of "Let it snow let it go, and see you in the springtime" suggests a sense of hope for the future, a willingness to let go of what is past and embrace what is to come. The line "Ooh I came for peace and walked away with nothing, Ooh I'll try at least and maybe I'll learn something" captures the ambivalence of the singer, who is both disappointed with the present but also determined to learn from it and move forward.
Overall, "Let It Snow" is a moody, introspective song that captures the complexities of holding onto the past while also embracing the future.
