She started her solo career in 1999 with a collaboration single along with Tin Tin Out for their single "What I Am", which peaked number 2 on the UK charts. Her debut solo album entitled "A Girl Like Me" was released in 2001, and spawned the UK number-one hit "What Took You So Long?", as well as the top five hits "What I Am" (a cover of a 1998's song earlier recorded by Edie Brickell & New Bohemians) and "Take My Breath Away" (which was not a cover of Berlin's 1986's hit), and top twenty hit "We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight". The album sold around 125,000 in the UK.
In spring of 2003, she returned as Emma (losing the Bunton), with the top five hit "Free Me" and later that year released "Maybe", which also went top ten and outsold the previous single. In spring of 2004, the single "I'll Be There" and the album "Free Me" were released. The album contained '60s-style pop gems and went on to outsell her first album, something other solo Spice Girls have yet to achieve. The album Free Me was released in the United States on January 25, 2005.
Emma released "Downtown" the official charity single for the BBC's 2006 Children in Need appeal, it reached number three. The album "Life in Mono" was released on (4 December).
Baby Love
Emma Bunton Lyrics

I need you, oh how I need you
But all you do is treat me bad
Break my heart and leave me sad
Tell me, what did I do wrong
To make you stay away so long
'Cause baby love, my baby love
Instead of breaking up
Let's do some kissing and making up
Don't throw our love away
In my arms why don't you stay
Need ya, need ya (baby love, baby love)
Baby love, ooh-ooh, baby love
(Congratulations! Big kiss to William!)
Ooh, ooh, need to hold you
Once again, my love
Need your warm embrace, my love
Don't throw our love away
Please don't leave me this way
Not happy like I used to be
Loneliness has got the best of me
My love, my baby love
I need you, oh how I need you
Why you do me like you do
After I've been true to you
Don't throw our love away
Baby, baby, ooh, baby love
In "Baby Love" by Emma Bunton, the singer is expressing her frustration with a lover who constantly mistreats her. She pleads with this person, asking what she did to push them away and leave her feeling lonely. Despite the pain they have caused her, she still deeply loves her partner and wants to make things work. She offers to forgive and forget if they can just focus on the love they have for each other and not throw it away.
This song captures the emotions and struggles that come with a difficult relationship, yet still aims to find hope and reconciliation. The plea for forgiveness and vulnerability in the lyrics make it a relatable and catchy pop hit. Throughout the song, the chorus repeats the phrase "Ooh-ooh baby love, my baby love" as a nostalgic throwback to the famous song by The Supremes, "Baby Love."
