Emperor Lyrics

He came to silence
There was nothing
He realized that the cheering cries of worship
Were but echoes of his harsh outspoken word
Reflecting back at him from cold and naked walls
From nothing came all I ever knew
And he beheld the ruins
Of an empire torn apart
Yet, no grief nor rage did bind him
Just silent and bewildered
By the emptiness
He stumbled off his throne
Suddenly, the walls around him cracked wide open
And an endless void appeared in flickering, grey light
What force, but silence, has deprived me of my coil?
No trail to guide me, no point of reference in sight
By nothing, resurrection will be pure
And he beheld the ruins
Of an empire torn apart
Wiping dust off his shoulders
Just silent now
In this emptiness
Leaving all behind
Step by step
Past all past
Slowly he approached the surface
Nothing left
To sacrifice
The mirrors mocked him on the way
The lyrics of Emperor's song The Eruption describe the aftermath of a long journey through a dark and lonely path. The singer, after years of wandering through tunnels, arrives at a place of complete silence and emptiness. There is nothing left anymore, and the cheers and cries of worship have turned into hollow echoes of his own voice. The wisdom he thought he had acquired has vanished, and he is left with nothing.
The next part of the lyrics describe the ruins of an empire torn apart. The singer is not bound by grief or rage and is silent yet bewildered in the emptiness that surrounds him. He stumbles off his throne, and suddenly, the walls around him crack open, revealing an endless void. He is forced to confront the silence that has deprived him of his coil, with no point of reference in sight.
In the final part of the song, the singer slowly approaches the surface, leaving all behind. He has nothing left to sacrifice, and the mirrors on his way mock him with their reflections. The lyrics of The Eruption describe the end of a long and arduous journey through darkness and confusion, where the only thing left is the emptiness that surrounds the singer.

ZACK COFFMAN I'd argue Hannes Grossmann has come close to nailing something as strong and unique as what's presented here at a few points, but yeah for sure almost nobody can touch what Prometheus brought to the table. Unprecedented masterpiece.
Chuck Globus
I remembered this album getting so much hate when it came out. I loved it the first time I heard it. 10/10
Elvar Bragason

I never paid attention except the music. What was their issue? I can't imagine being incapable of loving this album.
JediNxf7
I remember the people who hated on it being edgelord twats and wannabe neonazis. anyone who listened to metal for the music and not because they thought their dick looked less tiny in leather heard a masterpiece the second this came out.
