I may raise hell, that's just my style
I work hard everyday, make them rich I don't complain
While they sail their boats and they fly their jets
They can break us down but we ain't broke yet
Pay attention, or you'll miss this
You can take my house, I don't need it
Take my ride, you can keep it
But I'm alive and I'm still breathing
You can't take away my pride
We ain't alone, it's easy to hide
Life ain't fair, but we ain't gonna die
You can wait for change or hold your breath
You can waste your time but we ain't dead yet
They can race their cars, they can place their bets
They can break us down but we ain't broke yet
Pay attention or you'll miss this
You're my witness, are you listening?
You can take my house, I don't need it
Take my ride, you can keep it
But I'm alive and I'm still breathing
You can't take away my pride
I ain't breaking, I ain't bleeding
I ain't wasting another minute
I've been praying, I ain't shaking
You can't take away my pride
You only lose when you stop believing
I got my friends and we ain't leaving
You can take my house, I don't need it
Take my ride, you can keep it
But I'm alive and I'm still breathing
You can't take away my pride
I ain't breaking, I ain't bleeding
I ain't wasting another minute
I've been praying, I ain't shaking
You can't take away my pride
You can take my house, I don't need it
Take my ride, you can keep it
Everything's going to be alright, my pride
The song "Pride" by Emphatic is about resilience in the face of adversity. The lyrics speak to the idea that even when everything seems to be going wrong, when people are struggling and facing challenges, they can still hold onto their pride and refuse to be broken. The opening lines set the tone: "I may get drunk every once in a while / I may raise hell, that's just my style." The singer may have some flaws and make mistakes, but they are unapologetic about who they are.
The song goes on to contrast the singer's hard work and struggle with the luxury and excess of others: "I work hard every day, make them rich I don't complain / While they sail their boats and they fly their jets." Even in the face of this inequality, the singer refuses to let their spirit be broken: "You can take my house, I don't need it / Take my ride, you can keep it / But I'm alive and I'm still breathing / You can't take away my pride."
Throughout the song, the message is clear: life may be unfair, and people may struggle, but that doesn't mean they have to give up their self-respect or their sense of pride. In the end, the singer asserts their strength and determination: "I ain't breaking, I ain't bleeding / I ain't wasting another minute / I've been praying, I ain't shaking / You can't take away my pride."
