De tus ojos, como ves
Todo cambia, no así tu voz
Cuando me hablas en francés limón
En un barco de papel yo volveré
Por ti mi amor francés limón
Te besaré, me besaras
Me encanta tu actitud
Dios conserve tu salud
Solo por mirarte comprendí
Para qué yo vine aquí
En un barco de papel yo volveré
Por ti mi amor francés limón
Las luces de la ciudad se apagaran
Te besaré, me besarás
Me encanta tu actitud
Y tus ojos, como ves
Todo cambia, no así tu voz
Cuando me hablas en francés limón
En un barco de papel yo volveré
Por ti mi amor francés limón
Las luces de la ciudad se apagaran
Te besaré, me besarás
The lyrics of "Frances Limón" by Enanitos Verdes express a love that is so strong that it colors everything around it with the hue of the beloved's eyes. The opening line "Todo tiene el color de tus ojos" (Everything has the color of your eyes) invokes the image of how deeply and completely the singer is in love.
The chorus, which reads "En un barco de papel yo volveré / Por ti mi amor francés limón" (In a paper boat, I will return / For you, my French lemon love), speaks to the idea that no matter the obstacles, the singer will come back for their love. The imagery of a paper boat is fragile, showing that their love is strong enough to make even flimsy objects able to carry them back to each other.
The mention of "francés limón" (French lemon) is likely a term of endearment for the beloved, implying that they are sweet, but also a bit sour. The way the singer speaks about their partner's voice never changing could be a metaphor for how their love will always remain constant, even in the midst of life changing around them. The lyrics paint a beautiful picture of a love that is steadfast, persistent, and unchanging.
