Their name was devised by Justin Burford, because his opinion on the ideals of fashion itself but also because of its open interpretation. "I want to break down the walls - within that context, that image, we can do anything we want no matter whether it’s super cheesy or punk, I want to kill fashion, see the end of it."
Frontman Justin Burford and guitarist Rodney Aravena are both ex-members of the Australian group The Sleepy Jackson.
March 2004 saw them release the Rough Diamonds EP, and they followed it up with the Too Careful EP later on in the same year.
After performing at SXSW they were picked up by EMI/Capitol records for a worldwide distribution contract. On 25 August 2005, End of Fashion released their self titled debut album. Their debut single, O Yeah, won two ARIA Awards in 2005.
Their sophomore album Book of Lies was released in Australia in late 2008 and two singles, Fussy and Dying for You, have been released.
End of Fashion are currently working on new songs for their third album.
Trust
End of Fashion Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Feed me the medicine to keep me smiling
And we can play
All of those pretty little school girl subjects
Come into my padded cell
I made a promise not to hurt you and this face a lie would never tell
You never know
This is a trust issue
I don’t mean to sound mad
Ask anyone
Don’t trust anyone
And while we're on the topic of detention
Living under lock and key
All it takes is just a bad day baby to end up in captivity
Throw away
The sun rarely sees me
See I’m running around inside
See I’m strapped to a wall with eyes
I’ve been here before
Let me go
This is a trust issue
I don’t mean to sound mad
Ask anyone
Don’t trust anyone
Don’t trust anyone
Don’t trust anyone
We're only having fun
Don’t trust anyone
Don’t trust anybody
Far away everything's AOK
Console your friends
Happy days, Happy days
This is a trust issue
I don’t mean to sound mad
Ask anyone
Don’t trust anyone
Don’t trust anyone
The song "Trust" by End of Fashion is quite introspective and emotional, depicting the internal struggles of a person who has faced some kind of trauma or mistreatment and now finds it hard to trust anyone. The lyrics seem to be addressed to a therapist or doctor, perhaps, who is administering medication to the singer to keep them "smiling" and comfortable while they are being held in a padded cell. The singer is haunted by memories of being hurt and vows not to hurt anyone else or deceive them with a false face. The chorus is a repeated admonishment to the listeners to not trust anyone, which suggests that the singer has been wronged before and is now trying to protect themselves from similar pain in the future.
The second verse delves further into the theme of confinement and captivity, suggesting that the singer has experienced some kind of traumatic event that has led them to be confined in a place where they are not free to do as they please. They feel isolated from the outside world and trapped in their own thoughts, which are as chaotic as they are desperate. The repeated phrase "Let me go" suggests that the singer longs to be free from their confinement, both physically and mentally. The bridge of the song seems to offer a glimmer of hope, as the singer imagines a world far away where everything is "AOK" and happy days abound. However, the chorus is a constant reminder that trust is a fragile thing that can be easily broken, and that one must be careful whom they let into their lives.
