After The Lovin'
Engelbert Humperdinck Lyrics
So I sing you to sleep
After the lovin'
With a song I just wrote yesterday
And I hope you can hear
What the words and the music have to say.
It's so hard to explain
Everything that I'm feelin'
Face to face I just seem to go dry.
'Cause I love you so much
Thanks for takin' me (Thanks for takin' me)
On a one way trip to the sun (On a one way trip to the sun)
And thanks for turnin' me (Turnin' me)
Into a someone. (Someone)
So I sing you to sleep
After the lovin'
I brush back the hair from your eyes.
And the love on your face
Is so real that it makes me want to cry.
And I know that my song
Isn't sayin' anything new.
Oh, but after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you.
So I sing you to sleep
After the lovin'
I brush back the hair from your eyes.
And the love on your face
Is so real that it makes me want to cry.
And I know that my song
Isn't sayin' anything new.
Oh, but after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you.
Yes, after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you.
Hmmm, after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you

I listen almost every day to this song. It was the favorite for my husband and me. He's been gone close to 5 years and still is the love of my life. No one can and no one will ever replace him for me. This song continues to bring back my wonderful memories!!!

Your memories are very beautiful and real. God bless you and your husband for recognizing the gift you still share.

This song was played at our wedding 45 years ago. We played the song all the time, but especially on our anniversary. I lost my husband one month ago today. I too play it everyday since he died. I'm sorry for your loss. I feel the same about ever finding someone to replace him. He is the love of my life.

I'm so glad you have wonderful memories!!

He's right by your side in spirit, but I know that's not tangible. You will see him again, be sure of that. So sorry for your loss. Beautiful song. 💕💕💕🙏☀️

@D Hoosier is he good now?
D Hoosier
Sadly, he is not well.
He was coming to southern Indiana on September 18, & has canceled it. I believe his health, combined with losing his beautiful wife a year ago may be digging really deep. My heart breaks for him, & his four adult children ♥️♥️♥️♥️

My mother loved Engelbert especially this song. She came down with dementia. And i was lucky enough to have the privilege of taking care of her. We kept her radio on in the kitchen tuned to an oldies station. And they would play this song at least once a week. When it came on i would get her out of her chair amd dance with her. It was the hardest and and the most wonderful time of my life. Moms gone now 1year in march. And this song I'll forever hold in my heart for her!!!
