Another Time Another Place
Engelbert Humperdinck Lyrics

Her candles flicker in the fading light
I sit alone and watch that lonely night
I see you everywhere and I try desperately to hide
Chorus:
Another time, another place, I see that old familiar face
And I try hard to catch your eye
But you'll be with somebody new
Another night, another day, I'll see you standing in my way
I'll stop and say "hello, my friend"
Another place, another time, you'll tell me you've been doing fine
And walk away from me once more.
I try to run away from sad regrets
The bitter wine won't help me to forget
That I locked up my heart and threw away the precious key
Chorus:
Another night, another day, I'll see you standing in my way
I'll stop and say "hello, my friend"
Another place, another time, you'll tell me you've been doing fine
And walk away from me once more.
"Another Time Another Place" is a song by Engelbert Humperdinck that portrays the unrequited love of a person who's attempting to move on from a past romantic relationship. As he's sitting alone in a room, trying to find a distraction from his thoughts, he sees his former lover's image all around him. He's unable to escape the memories, no matter how much he tries. He misses her so much that he imagines her presence in his surroundings. Rather than focusing on the present, he is trapped in the past and is still affected by her.
The chorus suggests another verse of the brokenhearted ballad. He wishes for another time and location where he could reunite with the woman he still has feelings for. Despite the fact that he sees her smile in another context with someone else, he still yearns for her. In the bridge, he reflects on his regret for shutting off the chance of their relationship continuing. "Another time, another place," he says. "And walk away from me once more." Despite his desire for another opportunity, he appears to be aware that another encounter would result in him being alone again, with no resolution to his lonesomeness.

Not only that, you can understand every word he says and the song has a meaning... sadly, we'll never have singers, songwriters and proper orchestral versions like this ever again.
