But Beautiful
Engelbert Humperdinck Lyrics

Or it's quiet or it's mad,
It's a good thing or it's bad,
But beautiful!
Beautiful to take a chance
And if you fall, you fall,
And I'm thinking I wouldn't mind at all.
It's a problem or it's play,
It's a heartache either way,
But beautiful!
And I'm thinking if you were mine
I'd never let you go,
And that would be but beautiful I know.
The lyrics of Engelbert Humperdinck's "But Beautiful" explores the complexities of love. The song suggests that love can be a paradox of emotions - it can be funny or sad, quiet or mad, good or bad. Love is uncertain and can take many forms.
The lyrics also depict love as a risk - it's beautiful to take a chance with someone, even if falling in love entails the possibility of getting hurt. The song acknowledges the fact that love can be both tearful and gay, a problem or play, a heartache, and yet it is still beautiful.
The sentiment in the lyrics seems to suggest that love is worth the possible pain because of how beautiful it can be. The singer, in particular, expresses his desire to take that risk and not let go of the person he loves, emphasizing that it would be "but beautiful."
