Marry Me

And I know now for sure that my wandering days are through
I've looked around, most every place
But all that I ever see is your lovely face
When I come back, darling, say you'll marry me
I want to spend my life with you
A little band of gold for everyone to see
I'll tell the world if you marry me
Didn't know that your love would be watching me each night
Thought I'd have fun with someone new
But now that I know it is your love that's so true
When I come back, darling, say you'll marry me
I want to spend my life with you
A little band of gold for everyone to see
I'll tell the world if you marry me
When I come back, darling, say you'll marry me
I want to spend my life with you
A little band gold for everyone to see
I'll tell the world if you marry me
In Engelbert Humperdinck's song "Marry Me," the singer is declaring their love for their significant other and asking for their hand in marriage. The lyrics speak of a journey of self-discovery and exploration but ultimately, the singer realizes that they belong with their beloved. They have seen and experienced other places and people, but all they can see is their lover's face. The singer is certain that their wandering days are over and they want to spend the rest of their life with their partner. They want to make a public declaration of their love and commitment by getting married and wearing a little band of gold for everyone to see. The singer recognizes that they made a mistake by trying to have fun with someone new, but now they know that their lover's love is true and they want to commit to them completely.
The song's lyrics convey a sense of nostalgia and regret for past actions but also a hopeful and earnest desire for a loving, committed relationship. It speaks to the timeless need for love and companionship and the willingness to make a lifelong commitment. The tone of the song is romantic and passionate with a touch of sadness and desperation. It is a heartfelt plea for acceptance and a declaration of eternal love.
