Happiness
Ennio Morricone Lyrics

You never thought of mine
Mentioning loneliness
I feel lonely all the time
Ever since you went away
After swearing we would never part
There was nothing I could say
Speaking of happiness
Why did it have to leave
Speaking of faithlessness
Why couldn't you just believe
I love you so very much
How could anything really go wrong
With the magic of your touch
And your love to keep me strong
Speaking of happiness
Where did it ever go
Did it leave with your caress
And the tenderness I used to know
Or is it right before my eyes
Like a blessing in the skies
Speaking of happiness
Why don't we try it one more time
Speaking of happiness
Why don't we try it one more time
Speaking of happiness
The song "Happiness" by Ennio Morricone is about lost love and the struggle to recapture happiness. The first line speaks of how the person being addressed has never considered the singer's happiness, implying that the relationship was not a two-way street. The mention of loneliness in the next line indicates that despite being in a relationship, the singer still feels lonely. The song then goes on to describe how the promise of forever was broken and how it has left the singer with a broken heart.
The chorus starts by questioning where happiness went and why it left. The lines "Did it leave with your caress / And the tenderness I used to know" suggest that the singer is associating happiness with the love and affection that they used to receive from their partner. Then the song hints that maybe happiness isn't lost after all, and it's something that can be found again. The line "Or is it right before my eyes / Like a blessing in the skies" suggests that happiness might be closer than the singer thinks, and they just need to try again to find it.
Overall, the song conveys a feeling of longing and a desire to recapture what was once lost. The lyrics use rhetorical questions and personal anecdotes to create a sense of intimacy with the listener. The melody is melancholic yet hopeful, with a hint of nostalgia.
