Every time I hear this song I hear an infinite sadness in a cruel world, but a beautiful beauty that remains even after death. Rest in peace Ennio.

Let there be no soldiers ever who die or never even be a soldier Never never ...

great scene when Clint Eastwood gives a Confederate soldier the cigar, comforting the kid before he dies. very good scene.

@Emerio Manzano no indication that young kid was on their side just cause he was sent to that war. There was a compulsory military draft.

@Stephen Kemp i believe that good the bad and the ugly was the last of the trilogy and he wore the pancho in the first 2 movies

@Stephen Kemp Yes! This movie, and The other two movies in "The Man With No Name" trilogy are in my top ten faves of all time. Great actors, director and of course maestro Morricone's score. They don't make them like this any more.

Stephen Kemp

@Mark Pope yep and he took from there his famous poncho

This scene wIth the dying soldier made the movie for me. I served in the first Persian gulf war and recall an incident where a convoy was driving past the scene of your battle. And Iraqi soldier was trying to crawl to the road. both legs were blown off. He was just serving his country like I was. This scene reminds me of him. The music is absolutely perfect for this scene. Anguish, suffering and compassion all in one scene. This is war in a nutshell.

Mark Pope

Amen. War is Hell and those who have never served will NEVER know how it really is. One is never the same once they have served.
