You Go To My Head
Ennio Morricone Lyrics

And you linger like a haunting refrain
And I find you spinning round in my brain
Like the bubbles in a glass of champagne
You go to my head
Like a sip of sparkling burgundy brew
And I find the very mention of you
The thrill of the thought
That you might give a thought to my plea, cast a spell over me
Still I say to myself get a hold of yourself
Can't you see that it never can be?
You go to my head
With a smile that makes my temperature rise
Like a summer with a thousand July's
You intoxicate my soul with your eyes
Though I'm certain that this heart of mine
Hasn't a ghost of a chance in this crazy romance
You go to my head
You go to my head
The song "You Go to My Head" by Ennio Morricone is a beautiful and classic love song that speaks about the power of romantic infatuation. The song compares the feeling of being in love to being overwhelmed by the effects of drinking champagne and enjoying a sparkling burgundy brew. The singer's thoughts are consumed by the object of his affections, spinning in his mind like bubbles or the stimulating kick of a cocktail, making his temperature rise and intoxicating his soul with her eyes.
Despite knowing that the chances of the romance ever working out are slim to none, the thrill and longing for reciprocation grips him like a spell. He tries to remind himself to come back to reality and not let his emotions run wild. However, the power of love is too strong as it takes over his thoughts and feelings.
The song speaks to the allure and irresistible nature of love, even if it seems impossible.
