Il Giorno Del Black Out
Enrico Ruggeri Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Noi barricati in casa a respirare solitudini
E ci attacchiamo a macchine come malati

Noi pacifici soldati pienamente realizzati

Overall Meaning

In Enrico Ruggeri's song Il Giorno Del Black Out, the lyrics speak about a society that is barricaded indoors, breathing in loneliness and becoming addicted to technology. The people are described as being like terminally ill patients, clinging to their devices to escape their own reality. They observe the lives of others through screens, watching people come and go while feeling left out. They become virtual prisoners of currents, like dolls in a child's playroom that are eventually forgotten as the child grows older.

The bodies on the street are simply obstacles to be avoided, as people rush home to their own safe havens without looking back. The world is seen only through liquid crystals, with images flashing in vivid colors. People are sure they have never been happier in their lives. They are described as peaceful soldiers who have reached success, until one day the power supply is cut off and their connection to the virtual world fades away. Some people commit suicide and others become insane. The lives of people change and they start interacting with one another once again, singing and talking on the streets.

The song paints a picture of how technology, while helpful in some ways, can ultimately lead to isolation and a disconnection from the real world. It is a poignant reminder that we should strive for balance in our lives, and not let our addiction to technology consume us completely.
