Enrico Ruggeri Lyrics

In Enrico Ruggeri's Superbia, the lyrics describe a critical tone towards individuals seeking approval and validation from others, specifically those who are in the entertainment industry. The first verse describes these individuals as "miserable acrobats, whores of ratings, beggars of consensus", revealing the idea that these people are willing to compromise their values in pursuit of popularity and fame. The second line poses a rhetorical question, asking if they don't have mirrors at home to reflect on their own self-worth rather than depending on other's opinions to define them.
The chorus, "What you do represents you, what you say condemns you, what you are is nothing. When I compare myself to you, I am so proud of myself," emphasizes the importance of self-reflection and having a solid sense of self-worth, not reliant on the opinions of others. The third verse highlights the contrast between the artist's mentality and those who seek validation from the masses, stating that in the artist's nights, there is a difference, a battle within their conscience, a dignity in doubt, and the knowledge that someone is actually listening to them.
The final verse concludes with the celebration of individuality, expressing the beauty of not resembling those who seek validation externally and not remembering their names, ending with the affirmation that the singer is proud of who they are when compared to them.
