Entombed's debut album was Left Hand Path, a cult favorite that established the band as a popular death metal band. The follow-up, Clandestine, was just as popular. These first two albums were unique in that they featured what was sometimes referred to as a "chainsaw" guitar sound which became a staple of Swedish death metal worldwide. It was created using the Boss Heavy Metal distortion pedal and a Peavey amplifier. This iconic guitar tone spawned the niche sub-genre referred to as 'entombedcore' which consists of just hardcore bands using the infamous chainsaw tone as part of their sound.
After the Gods of Grind tour, Entombed began changing their sound into a mix of groove metal, hard rock and death metal frequently called death n roll. Although this may have turned off many fans, it established their mainstream and critical reputation. Wolverine Blues and Hollowman are widely considered classics of early 1990s death metal, but were followed by problems with various record companies.
In 1999, Entombed released Uprising, which was an anti-commercial return to the band's roots. The follow-up, Morning Star returned to Hollowman and Wolverine Blues style metal. They have since released 2003's album Inferno, a continuation of the 'death n roll' style that has become their trademark sound.
2006 saw the release of new music from Entombed, with the When in Sodom EP on June 6 (or 06/06/06), and the full length album Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments was released on July 9th, 2007. This album is the group's first release with drummer Olle Dahlstedt (of Alpha Safari and ex-Misery Loves Co.), who replaced long-time drummer Peter Stjärnvind in 2006.
they reunite in 2016 after winning the case of entombed name.

Entombed Lyrics

(lyrics: H}kansson/Cederlund
Music: Cederlund/Andersson)
Can't find a real answer
It's all the same
But when it all comes around
I guess it's kinda lame.
I can hear you screaming
Your high is repulsive
So full of pain.
My soul's circumsition
Breed to give head
Liquid house of raindrops
Turn out to be dead.
Returning to soma
Equinox of grief
My next incarnation in-
Bonehouse
And it's about to crack
In this house of bones
Now heads start rolling
Insted of stones.
Oblivions wounds
Dumb fuck despair
If I can't suck life deeper
How could I care
Get stoned
Get dead
Inside my flesh
The house of bones
(Lead: Cederlund)
(Lead: Hellid)
Blind eyes of opium dreams
Every time I get this far
Atmospheric distortion
It's way to loud at the dead gods bar
The lyrics to Entombed's song "Bonehouse" are filled with dark and cryptic imagery. The singer is unable to find a real answer to their problems and everything seems to be the same to them. They express a sense of disappointment and disillusionment with life, finding it all rather lame. The turning point of the song seems to come when the singer describes hearing someone screaming as they inject themselves with drugs. The high they experience is repulsive and full of pain, which speaks to the destructive nature of addiction.
The song takes a turn towards the supernatural and the occult in the later verses. The singer mentions their "soul's circumsition," which suggests a kind of ritualistic sacrifice. They also refer to a "liquid house of raindrops" that turns out to be dead - this could possibly be interpreted as a reference to a poisoned well or corrupted water source that has resulted in death. The singer then talks about returning to soma, which is a reference to the mythical elixir of life. They describe their next incarnation as being in a "bonehouse," which seems to suggest that they will be reincarnated into a skeleton or dead body. The final verses of the song are filled with more dark imagery, such as "oblivions wounds" and "dumb fuck despair." The singer seems to be lost and unable to find meaning in life.
Overall, the lyrics of "Bonehouse" are open to interpretation and could be interpreted in many different ways. The song touches on themes such as addiction, mortality, and the supernatural. The repetitive nature of the lyrics reinforces the sense of despair and disillusionment that the singer feels.
