Entombed's debut album was Left Hand Path, a cult favorite that established the band as a popular death metal band. The follow-up, Clandestine, was just as popular. These first two albums were unique in that they featured what was sometimes referred to as a "chainsaw" guitar sound which became a staple of Swedish death metal worldwide. It was created using the Boss Heavy Metal distortion pedal and a Peavey amplifier. This iconic guitar tone spawned the niche sub-genre referred to as 'entombedcore' which consists of just hardcore bands using the infamous chainsaw tone as part of their sound.
After the Gods of Grind tour, Entombed began changing their sound into a mix of groove metal, hard rock and death metal frequently called death n roll. Although this may have turned off many fans, it established their mainstream and critical reputation. Wolverine Blues and Hollowman are widely considered classics of early 1990s death metal, but were followed by problems with various record companies.
In 1999, Entombed released Uprising, which was an anti-commercial return to the band's roots. The follow-up, Morning Star returned to Hollowman and Wolverine Blues style metal. They have since released 2003's album Inferno, a continuation of the 'death n roll' style that has become their trademark sound.
2006 saw the release of new music from Entombed, with the When in Sodom EP on June 6 (or 06/06/06), and the full length album Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments was released on July 9th, 2007. This album is the group's first release with drummer Olle Dahlstedt (of Alpha Safari and ex-Misery Loves Co.), who replaced long-time drummer Peter Stjärnvind in 2006.

Just As Sad
Entombed Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Burning bridges on my Indian Big Chief
Reality is just as sad
Kinky sex and murder, the way it's got to be
But have you heard her begging to be free
Reality is just as sad
The lyrics of Entombed's song Just As Sad seem to speak of a certain disillusionment with the idea of God, with the line "God's an insect with a six-legged disbelief." The image of God being compared to an insect adds to the overall feeling that the band is trying to convey of feeling small and insignificant in relation to the bigger picture. The phrase "burning bridges on my Indian Big Chief" could be interpreted as a metaphor for burning down one's past and leaving behind old beliefs or ways of life in search of something new. The line "reality is just as sad" feels like a powerful statement that suggests that no matter how much one might try to escape reality, it will always be there waiting for them when they return.
The lyrics also seem to touch on themes of violence and sexual deviancy. The phrase "kinky sex and murder, the way it's got to be" feels like a reference to the darkness that can lurk within some human desires. However, the line "but have you heard her begging to be free" adds a layer of complexity to the lyrics. It suggests that perhaps the violent and kinky acts are an attempt to break free from some kind of societal norm or oppression.
Overall, the lyrics of Just As Sad are evocative and thought-provoking. They touch on themes of disillusionment, violence, and societal oppression. The song creates a heavy and intense atmosphere that stays with the listener long after it has finished.
