The band broke up in 1996, but reunited in 2001 for one final tour. They reunited again to play at the Sappy Records Festival in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada. The festival is the 4th till the 6th of August, 2006.
Bassist Julie Doiron currently has a successful solo career and most recently has been collaborating with Phil Elverum on his Mt. Eerie project. Rick White and Mark Gaudet play in Elevator to Hell, and Christopher Thompson enjoyed some fame as Moon Socket.

Eric's Trip Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'd like to help you understand somehow
The deeper in the sixth the more I try
Push me into without a reason why
Wonder how you, wonder how I stall
It seems like you were always bound to fall
Tune the TV tune another show
The song Deeper by Eric's Trip is about wanting to connect with someone on a deeper level, and trying to help them understand that connection. The opening lines, "I'd like to talk to you right now / I'd like to help you understand somehow," express the desire to have a conversation with someone and to help them gain insight or clarity about a particular issue. The following line, "The deeper in the sixth the more I try," is more abstract and open to interpretation. It could refer to a variety of things, such as a specific stage in a relationship, a particular emotion or feeling, or a more existential concept like the search for meaning or purpose. Regardless of the meaning, the phrase "the more I try" conveys a sense of urgency and determination to reach that deeper level.
The next two lines, "Push me into without a reason why / Wonder how you, wonder how I stall," continue this theme of wanting to connect but feeling unsure how to do so. The first line suggests a willingness to go deeper, even without a clear reason or understanding of what that entails. The second line hints at a kind of stagnation or resistance on both sides - the singer wonders how they and the other person are holding back, or why progress seems difficult.
The final two lines, "Tune the TV tune another show / Show me more and more, but it's grown," express a sense of disillusionment or dissatisfaction with the distractions of everyday life. The image of tuning the TV and watching "more and more" implies a kind of mindless consumption without true fulfillment. The final word, "grown," suggests that this pattern has become more ingrained or habitual, and that it's difficult to break free from it.
