Eric's Trip were the first Canadian band, and one of three Atlantic Canadian bands, to be signed to Seattle's Sub Pop Records in the early 1990's. (The others were Jale and The Hardship Post.)
The band broke up in 1996, but reunited in 2001 for one final tour. They reunited again to play at the Sappy Records Festival in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada. The festival is the 4th till the 6th of August, 2006.
Bassist Julie Doiron currently has a successful solo career and most recently has been collaborating with Phil Elverum on his Mt. Eerie project. Rick White and Mark Gaudet play in Elevator to Hell, and Christopher Thompson enjoyed some fame as Moon Socket.

Listen to my thoughts, makes you smile
Yeah
Yeah
Hold my hand, my life
Thinking, quiet down, make me right
Yeah
Yeah
Hold my hand, my life
Thinking, quiet down, make me right
Yeah
Yeah
The lyrics of Eric's Trip's song "Listen" seem to express the feelings of someone who is seeking emotional support and understanding from a partner or friend. The first line "Sticking around, for a while" suggests that the person is staying with the other person for a longer period, probably to find solace in their company. The next line "Listen to my thoughts, makes you smile" further emphasizes the need for someone who can patiently listen to the singer's thoughts and feelings. The singer feels that their companionship acts as a source of comfort and happiness for the other person.
The repetition of "Hold my hand, my life" further strengthens the idea of seeking comfort and support. The phrase "my life" suggests that the person is the most important part of the singer's life and holding hands implies a sense of trust and closeness. The line "Thinking, quiet down, make me right" is probably hinting towards the singer's overthinking tendencies, and the need for someone who can calm them down and reassure that things will be alright.
In a nutshell, the song "Listen" is about finding solace and emotional support in the company of someone who listens and understands. It portrays the vulnerability and emotional neediness of the singer and how they find comfort in someone else's presence.
