In the mid-1960s Clapton left the Yardbirds to play with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. Immediately after leaving Mayall, Clapton formed the power trio Cream with drummer Ginger Baker and bassist Jack Bruce, in which Clapton played sustained blues improvisations and "arty, blues-based psychedelic pop". After Cream broke up, he formed blues rock band Blind Faith with Baker, Steve Winwood, and Ric Grech. Clapton's solo career began in the 1970s, where his work bore the influence of the mellow style of J. J. Cale and the reggae of Bob Marley. His version of Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" helped reggae reach a mass market. Two of his most popular recordings were "Layla", recorded with Derek and the Dominos; and Robert Johnson's "Crossroads", recorded with Cream. Following the death of his son Conor in 1991, Clapton's grief was expressed in the song "Tears in Heaven", which was featured on his Unplugged album.
Clapton has been the recipient of 18 Grammy Awards, and the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. In 2004 he was awarded a CBE at Buckingham Palace for services to music. He has received four Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. In his solo career, Clapton has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. In 1998, Clapton, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, founded the Crossroads Centre on Antigua, a medical facility for recovering substance abusers.

Look deep within, within your lonely heart.
Do your best my friend, try and understand
It's only you, pull yourself through.
When you tell your story,
Make sure your story's right;
Every little single word is true.
See what love can do.
When the words are in the music, the music is the song.
The world would be so happy, if we'd all just get along.
I want to see it, a smile on every face.
So when we tell our story,
Make sure that it's right
And every single word is true.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
So when you tell your story, honey
Make sure that it's right.
I finally proved the message true.
I see what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
When we sing the story
Make sure your song is right.
Finally proved the message true.
See what love can do.
Oh, see what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
See what love can do.
In Eric Clapton's song What Do You Love, the lyrics convey a message of hope and perseverance during times of struggle. The first verse encourages the listener to look within themselves when their world is falling apart, as the solution to their problems may lie within their own heart. The second verse introduces the theme of personal honesty, reminding us to always speak the truth in our own stories. The chorus then highlights the power of love to bring people together and create positive change in the world. The final verse brings together the themes of personal honesty and love by urging the listener to write their own story with honesty and love.
One of the interesting facts about this song is that it was co-written by Clapton and his longtime collaborator Simon Climie. Additionally, the song was released as the first single from Clapton's 23rd studio album "Behind the Sun," which was produced by Phil Collins. Another noteworthy aspect of the song is the use of a gospel choir for the background vocals, which adds to the uplifting message of the lyrics.
"What Do You Love" also features Clapton's signature guitar work, including a slide guitar solo towards the end of the song. The song has been praised for its positive message and catchy melody, with some critics comparing it to Clapton's earlier hit "Wonderful Tonight." The music video for the song features Clapton performing with his band in a studio, intercut with shots of various people holding up signs about love.
Overall, the lyrics of "What Do You Love" offer a message of hope and optimism that is sorely needed in today's world. The song encourages listeners to look within themselves for strength, speak their truth with honesty, and embrace the power of love to create positive change.

I'm in this video. I'm behind Vince while he's on the stage. I'm the blonde with the bob haircut standing on a stool. Good memory. Vince is a sweetheart.
