I had the great pleasure of seeing John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers around 1988 at Wolftrap Farm Park. I was in the third row, center. Coco was on guitar. Mayall always surrounded himself with such great musicians. They were so hot that the fire alarm went off on their last song, the sprinklers started spraying the whole theatre. They played thru the end of their last song. After a long intermission to get they fire alarm system reset and dry the seats, John Lee Hooker's band took the stage and proceeded to also blow away the audience. Wow what a night !

I saw him in 91 at a local music festival. I had backstage passes for the show and he stopped and talked for a bit before the show... just like he was a roadie or something.... as down to earth as he could be and he had a great smile. :)

This is pretty much where modern Rock guitar playing emerged from. This and the second Yardbirds album. Everyone from Rory Gallagher to Gary Moore learned it backwards. Mick Ronson didn't though, he learnt Jeff Beck's 'Truth' album!

Clapton never got a better sound and tone than the 65/66 period. Everything he did before and after was amazing as well, but the concise punchy blues numbers, with concise solos set the standard and their influence will be eternal.

Changed my life. Clapton basically headlines the album and his guitar is the star. Honest aggression without the need for words. Blew my mind as a teenager, it being far removed from the hypocritically dishonest commercial music everybody I knew listened to.

Clapton told the recording engineers to capture the Marshall tone as it was heard live - so they positioned the mics farther from the cranked amp.. and voilà a star was born.. he had everything to do with the now legendary tone captured in these studio recordings…

I first heard this in 1968 and I drove my college roommate nuts by playing it over and over again day and night until she begged me to stop. I love it just as much as when I first heard it! It stands the test of time and is still, in my opinion, one of the all-time best guitar solos!

This album is a "must have" in anybody's collection. Every song on here is great! Originaly done and written by OTIS RUSH. What a great, classic blues tune.

My brother had the original release album. It was destroyed on a basement flood. Today, it is worth well over $400. Thankfully, it has been digitized and is readily available on many streaming services. This unfortunately is not the case for some other great historical musicianship left behind only on vinyl albums.

I say anyone who is considering learning guitar should listen to this record , it doesnt matter if this isnt their style or their thing they should just listen to it. In todays world of flashy shredding and what not this record really shows that its not always how technical you play but the feelings behind what you are playing that really makes an impact each note works with each note , its not allways how many notes you play but what notes you play.

@@juana1483 yep. I come from the "shred" world; my guitar teacher told me to learn this piece, and I can easily see why. Learning blues really helps building phrasing. playing this stuff is pretty easy from a technique standpoint, but the nuance that you gotta give to the notes to make them sound how they're supposed to is insane, especially for someone who swears by thrash.

i was just learning by ear the solo at 1:50 and it's very fun i must say!

A 1960 Les Paul sunburst, marshall amp cranked up dirty with the mic placed far away from it. Clapton basically invented this new sound & doing so also popularized one of the most sought-after guitars on the planet ('58-'60 Gibson Les Pauls now sell for the price of a medium-sized house, it's gotten pretty crazy.)

Really? Perhaps stylus pressure needs reducing? I have only noticed this phenomenon on one of my records (Exile On Main Street, original pressing) and my stylus pressure is optimum for the stylus I use so I know it is something to do with how this record has been pressed.

Absolutely superb and well known version from Mayall and Clapton. But I will always have in mind that the original song "All your love" was composed in 1958 by the one and only blues man Otis Rush that passed away two years ago.

Nunca vi que nadie cambiara tanto con el tiempo como Eric. Empezo tocando un estilo filoso y con guitarra limpia en The Yardbiirds, despues paso a este woman tune que uso en este album y con Cream, volvio a un sonido clean con Blind Faith, empezo a usar una distorsion menor en Derek and the Dominoes y en sus primeros albums. Con la llegada de Blackie su sonido de volvio mas agresivo y en los 90 llego a usar realmente mucha distorsion y efectos. Finalmente, bajo un poco esa distorsion y se mantuvo asi hasta hoy. A la vez, cambiaba su forma de tocar y su apariencia fisica, increible.
