I'm sixteen living in paradise
Life might seem perfect living around animals at a young age, but there's an unfulfilled feeling deep inside.

Feeling disconnected due to physical differences to those around you.

I've got dreams exciting me
Having personal aspirations beyond current setting.

Like, a fire igniting me
Feeling that fire or passion ignite within, driving one towards their aspirations.

I tried to confide in my lions
Seeking comfort and camaraderie amongst the animals around you.

But they keep biting me
Feeling rejected and hurt by the very beings one seeks reassurance from.

Perceiving others to be happier than oneself.

Feeling like everyone around you has someone to rely on but you.

Feeling inferior to others' friendships.

It's a very recent feeling
Not having felt like this before and it being something new.

But it's running through my body
This feeling is affecting one's physical and emotional body.

Maybe I can meet an obese person
Trying to find common ground and new connections in a changed setting.

It's going be a difficult adjustment, you'll have to go to a real school
Acknowledging the challenges ahead when entering a new environment.

Mom, I would love that, it's time for something new
Despite the difficulties, accepting change and growth as a necessary experience.

We live in a tent and adventure is what we do (True)
Acknowledging that adventure and uncertainty are something one is accustomed to.

There's no time for wallowing or feeling sorry for oneself.

I got new things to try
Being open to new experiences and opportunities.

Like, high school, and skateboard and rapping
Naming some interests that are exciting and new to pursue.

Observing others caught up in their technology and devices.

Feeling overwhelmed by the large number of people present.

Being surrounded by others in a similar life stage.

Trying to make connections in a new environment.

Feeling up for the challenge of making connections with highly selective peers.

I'm trying to break into a pack
Attempting to find a group to fit in with and be a part of.

Like baboons, it's natural they attack
Noticing that groups can be harsh and even aggressive when others try to join.

I got to fight for the right to belong, to fit in
Having to struggle and work hard to find a place and identity in a new environment.

Somebody doesn't fit
Realizing that others may also feel the same way, like they don't fit in.

They want to be included, like me
Feeling empathy for others who might be in similar situations.

Believing that with persistence and effort, one can eventually find their place and fit in.

Asking for others to express their own feelings and experiences.

Everybody wants connection
Recognizing that everyone, deep down, wants to feel connected to others.

Yes, I know they have their friends, but what is one friend more (No!)
Not wanting to give up on finding connections and friends, despite rejection, because the right person could make a big difference.

Speculating that others have experienced something similar, and feeling connected to them through that experience.

So I brush off their rejection at our core (Just ignore her)
Trying to move past the hurtful comments and rejections from others, even if it's difficult.

Encouraging others to not be deterred by negative comments or rejections from others.
